Great to see Martin, Williams and Gov all have seemingly uninterrupted runs into the break. We may bemoan that the likes of Honey, Kemp, Cunners and Marchy are in the rehab group, but to have this trio fit and firing come round one is absolutely vital to us having a genuine tilt at it next year. Even if we got an average of 15 games out of each of these three combined it would be huge! Fingers crossed and all we need now is for Walshy to integrate back into the main group by late Jan and we are in business.

Every team is looking bigger, stronger and fitter this time of the year...

For us, I can see a more determined, focussed group and a sense of we're ready.
Missing the finals via losing the last 4 games should really hurt deep!

I want to see a different version of next man up in 2023 - i.e. not via injury, but forced selection via good form from VLF :D

Bring on 2023 - can't wait!

Putting on 4-5kg in three months is a little hard to believe
Not really, go on a high protein, low carb diet and start upping your reps with a push rep over the top of your max weight.

Lucas is rated a top-10 chance. Ben more 2nd-3rd round.
That's how I rate them currently. There is a good chance that Ben is going to really come on over the next couple of years. If he comes on as expected, he might be a very late first or an early second round pick. But... ATM... 2nd to 3rd is about right.

It's a real bonus having F/S, NGS, etc players coming through, as you can build a strategy, not only in that year, but a year, before and after, as well as the discounts around those types

Being highly rated as a 16 year old means absolutely nothing.

Both could end up picks #1 and #2 or last picks in the rookie draft.

Still 2 years away from being drafted.
The fact that their father is still an AFL assistant coach, and they're training with Crippa,Walsh,Cerra,Doc etc with access to the facilities at Carlton over the next 2 years means that their bodies/minds will be conditioned within an ultra elite environment..all pointing to the v best chance of success... And if they're anything like their old man then they won't lack motivation

I know they are both supremely light of frame, but anyone know how tall they are?

All good but you just have to look at any U17 AA team to see how meaningless it is. Most of the top 10 draftees won't be there.

Is he? Don’t think he’s involved at AFL level since departing/fleeing/fired from the Cows.

Like not recruiting players in similar positions for a couple of years prior?

While it can be a bonus, it can also be a trap where you a tempted to recruit players you would normally pass over (See the Brown brothers at Collingwood). Wingmen aren't something our list really needs at the moment unless we cut LOB and Cotrell

Totally agree but I doubt one or both will be pure wing in 2 years. A lot of top mid prospects start around the ground before being given opp in their underage year. If these boys have the skills and attitude, I can see them getting more opp to show their wares. Gee we're due to gun FS. Seems every other club has had one lately or academy jets.

You don't pass over talent, and even best available, there are still different types at each pick. The best benefit is with trading.

As for LOB and Cotts, neither are current locks.

As for the Brown boys, that's somewhat of a cherry pick
