Being highly rated as a 16 year old means absolutely nothing.

Both could end up picks #1 and #2 or last picks in the rookie draft.

Still 2 years away from being drafted.
Exaggeration means absolutely nothing. The data is valid, but not fully predictive.

Just being realistic.

Lots of time for those boys. No pressure 2 years out.

Even Lemmey 12 months ago was a top 5 pick. Now he was just happy to be taken at all. Jarrod Brander was a lock for pick #1 12 months out. McGuire led a campaign to get the GWS zone changed because of him. In the end he was a late pick and desisted shortly after.

These guys are 24 months out.

Being realistic would be to point out that it's not a given. Semantics perhaps, but we're on the internet and sadly someone will take things seriously.

I disagree

It means that we are a chance (yes just a chance) of using the system and drafting a decent player cheaper than expected

I’m rather jealous of other teams getting high quality players via Father-son Rule - It’s our turn!

Like not recruiting players in similar positions for a couple of years prior?

While it can be a bonus, it can also be a trap where you a tempted to recruit players you would normally pass over (See the Brown brothers at Collingwood). Wingmen aren't something our list really needs at the moment unless we cut LOB and Cotrell
That's the point, it's essentially a boost of pure talent instead of focusing on the short term or on the pressure to not stuff up the selection. The talent is already there and you are simply waiting on matching a bid, you don't need to overthink with perhaps too high a pick. There is also the draft surplus you get from focusing on accruing points. There's no 'overpaying'. The only regret I had in regards to the F/S rule was that we didn't convince Lance Whitnell to wait out another year so we could have drafted that extra 17Y/O in the draft.

up to the club to put as much work into them as possible as well which having them on the training track the other week they are doing.

Reminds me of the hype for Dylan Buckley and Ben Sos
Dylan had the work ethic and the motivation to succeed. It's unfortunate that he came to the club at a bad time and wasn't developed properly. A lot of the guys we picked up around the same time never did anything of note.

Totally agree but I doubt one or both will be pure wing in 2 years. A lot of top mid prospects start around the ground before being given opp in their underage year. If these boys have the skills and attitude, I can see them getting more opp to show their wares. Gee we're due to gun FS. Seems every other club has had one lately or academy jets.
Lucas is the winger, Ben is turning into a HBF type.

Not at the moment but how long until these boys are afl ready? 2 years until drafted and 2-5 years of development ontop of that. Where are Acres, LOB and Cottrell then?

There is certainly a lot of luck in getting into a programme that suits your skill base. How many years would Jason Costagna lasted at Carlton as a forward that can't kick goals, 2 at best but he is a triple premiership player that fitted into a game plan.

Yeah, it's interesting, isn't it? Hard to know how much of the problem was Dylan, and how much was the club. But he certainly had AFL attributes that gave him a real chance. He was quick and a lovely kick.

I dont have any info...only the photos revealed the two younger potentials appeared fully engaged, not lost or bami eyes etc...
if there is a will there should be a way...eg.JSOS......worth ethic and a large heart etc...

potential high end stuff that could work for club.......it will be closely considered without any doubt as things unfold going forward
