Those at the ground, what are we thinking about Cogs?
Didn’t really notice him out there and the stats seem to back that up. It’s a tough one, if he’s left out then who do we bring in? Bedford the obvious choice but still don’t trust him as an offensive mid even if his shutdown work is effective.

Those at the ground, what are we thinking about Cogs? Heard Kingy on SEN say he was basically unplayable at centre bounce and that a decision has to be made.
One of my favourites but injured, badly by the looks, if we keep playing him it could be on the level of the **** ups of an injured Davis and Co in the 2019 GF.

Hey, I watched this game on TV, sadly it's been a while since I've made it to a game in person. Hopefully next year with my kids.

As per others, Greene and Coniglio were bad, but I want to dwell more on how they were a problem.

Sydney attacks from defence incredibly well, they have sensational skill and running power. You need to defend hard against that.

The players in the Giants forward line were:

Hogan, Cadman and Keefe: Hogan is a mark-only player, does very little otherwise. No defensive pressure. That's okay, he is very good at what he does. Cadman is 195 cm, he tries but will never be great defensively. Keefe similar.

Greene and Coniglio: Unfortunately both are now 30 and providing very little defensively.

Daniels, Jones and McMullin: That leaves whomever of these guys was up forward at any one time to do all the chasing. Impossible task.

If Bedford was there, maybe you can make it work as he is that good defensively - but he was missing too.

Basically this was a forward line with well below par ability to apply pressure, against a Swans defence with tonnes of run and skill.

Given that, Giants did very well in other areas to make it a close game.

Snooze plays and we win no doubts as long as Cogs was the out and not Peatling.

Player ratings points across a few of the midfielders' careers. Greene and Coniglio very disappointing this year, and it rarely gets better from 31+.

The thing there is we all know Cogs has had a bad run with injury this year, as far as we know the TFG doesn’t have that excuse.

As others have said, so disappointing to have done all the hard work and be the better team for 3 qtrs, only to try and shut up shop too early. Some lessons are only learned the hard way.

It's looking even more costly now. Swans have landed on the easy side of the draw with Port and Hawks both having injury issues. The Brisbane - Geelong path looking much tougher

I don't know if they shut up shop, they just ran out of legs, which meant no leads were occurring up field and no proactive movement, so the only option was to chip sideways or go long up the line. I think they got exposed by not shutting down on heeney, which is what David king said on radio this morning.

I was watching it thinking 'I've seen this story twice in the past 5 weeks, surely they are going to send someone to heeney or he'll win this for them', but no they didn't. The good thing is, if they get through and play them again, they'll have a plan in place, but it's disappointing it wasn't enacted in this game to curb the most dangerous player in the AFL's influence, in the last quarter.

Sam Taylor (GWS)

“I also want to give Sam Taylor a bit of recognition. He was the third-highest rated player on the ground, and I thought his last quarter was enormous to give GWS a chance to hold up. He had six intercepts alone in that last quarter."
