Watching the Bulldogs under Beveridge is a reminder to me that we made the right call on Dew when we did. Absolutely wasting the prime of some Bulldog greats with his stubbornness, incompetence, and lack of gameplan outside of ‘Bont and Libba do everything’.

Seeing as he seems to love those scrappy, limited players who try hard in favour of players with any sort of skill, we have so many of those types that we could straight swap to take Dale/Sanders off their hands. Win-win.
So who would Sanders replace in our best 22 midfield?

It will be interesting to see what we will do in the off-season especially if we play finals and could attract a top player.

One thing is best 22 and then there is a good depth. Players who don't get games and would get opportunity to be best 22 on other teams will probably leave after some time.

Who would be the ideal recruit(s) to help our team? 5 draftees from last year look like best 22. That's some turnover.

Looking at current line-up, for me the most intriguing question is: Can we play Luko and Read at the same time? Where will we play them?

As for defence, Collins, Ballard, Andrew look settled in especially with Mac expected to develop a stronger body. Uwland and Powell look set in defence too. Is Luko and Flanders down back a long-term solution? Luko struggles to defend. He had some poor efforts last week against Brown. Will Weller end up there or on the wing? Could Johnston progress? He got traits. Can Budarick elevate and come back? Then there is Jeffrey who extended for 4 more years.

Midfield looks loaded. W Graham seems destined to play there besides Humphrey. We still got Davies to make it. Clohesy made a case for one wing. Is Fiorini viable solution on another wing? Dimma seems very happy with him. Or is it Weller? Is Moyle willing to wait behind Witts? Is Read our next ruck?

What do we need in our forward line? Obvious dilemma is Luko vs Read there. For now, it's Luko in defence but we are giving up 50+ goals probably. Rosas made a huge step forward this year. I would still like him to get some minutes in the middle together with Ainsworth. Then there is Rogers coming in soon and next year Lombard.

What do we really need? Is it now 90% premiership line-up? Just to imbed a new plan, build synergy and young draftees to progress?

Wonder what the crows would offer for luko. They are desperate for talent and scoring avenues. They offered 2 first rounders for Tom Petty. For the record, go back to when Dew was coaching, I said luko should be an AA half back instead of the fwd line so i think we should keep him, but it would be interesting what they are coming up with.

It's really interesting. The line-up against WB and how we played gives me confidence that Dimma knows what he is doing and he will figure out the best line-up to implement his plan.

Not many teams would give up on scoring like Dimma did this year with Luko. I guess it's all down to where Luko is most valuable in Dimma's plan. I doubt it's settled. One of the Dimma's strength is adaptability. If it does not work he will change it.

It will work, Luko 20 kicks a game. King and Walter up fwd. 2 x 200cm unicorns floating around in their respective halves.

Dimma will get the best out of luko, he will be elite.

Hi fellas. Just wondering what the Suns list needs are for Trade/draft this year? Dimma seems to think most of the list is there already and I tend to agree. After taking Harley last year I’m firmly of the opinion we should split our pick this year. If we end up with pick 1 and with Lombard projecting pick 5-10 would there be interest in trading your 2x 1R and end of first round (can’t work out if it’s 19 or 20) for pick 1 and our F2? Lot of water to go under the bridge with where your picks falls but that’s the nuts and bolts of it. In any event, good luck tonight.

Possibly but imo the Sun's would rather use those picks to trade in a best 22 player.

Depending on how the academy bidding rules are changed trading for your F1 might be better for both parties?

Shai Bolton. Or Rankine lol. X factor guys.

We’d be up for that I’m sure only issue is that unless something drastic happens this year we’d value it as pick 1 or 2 in a trade so not sure how that sits with you guys in terms of what’s coming back?

Would rather use the picks to trade in a mature A grader that helps complete our best 23 push for finals puzzle, rather than another top 3 kid that will take years to mature.

Could always use pick 1 to trade in a VERY established player..?

Credit to you for coming in here and making a sensible and feasible suggestion

Can’t tell if you’re taking the piss or not but I thought it was pretty fair? You’ve got more than enough points this year, you get the best player in the draft before Lombard and some points for next year when you’ll really need them.

No I am being serious. Huge thumbs up. On my mother’s life. There you go.

I’m sure she’s a great bird and glad she’s still with us. Any appetite for the above? Both yourselves and Dogs look like a 8th-12th finish IMO, which would mean 2 picks around the 7-10 mark. A couple of years ago we traded pick 2 for pick 8 and 12 so if my prediction is on the money that would seem about right. The pick 19/20 for F2 serves both our interests and probably cancel each other out. Obviously if you or Dogs do considerably better (or worse) this year that will change things.

You would have to think that a team like Richmond Would be more interested in three first rounders than just one elite pic if they were willing to give up a Shai Bolton type player

Part of it obviously depends on where the dogs finish this year and also us

As in you think the Suns (Dimma) would rather trade them for Shai Bolton than pick 1 if he was interested? I guess Lombard (in my view) is the key to all this if you wanted to get a player before him. Just thought it was a fair trade (based on limited early results) that would work out well for both of us, from memory you’ve got a heap of elite academy kids next year too. Exciting times on the coast.

I think the trade you are proposing is fair dependent on whether dogs and suns finish in the draft. My point is more to do with we have enough young talent. We need A grade verified stars to complement what we already have not more hit or miss youngsters

I think if the Suns did trade for pick 1 they will use it. But it's a mid-heavy draft and the Suns don't need another gun mid. IMO the goal will first be trading for a mature player, then if that doesn't work moving the picks forward depending on how next years academy players look.

As others have mentioned it's probably a bit early to speculate as it depends on what picks we have in the end.

We could always bring Levi Ashcroft home ;)

Great win yesterday fellas well done. I took your suggestions on board, here’s what I came up with:

GCS OUT Pick 8,11,19
GCS IN: Bolton, F2 (WCE)

WCE OUT: Pick 1, F2
WCE IN: Pick R1 WBD (8), R1 GCS (11) R1 PA (17), GCS end F1 (19)

RICH OUT: Bolton, Baker
RICH IN: Pick 1

FREO OUT: Pick 17
FREO IN: Baker

We won a game. I’m going to enjoy it.

Everyone happy with that imo, Only problem is that it looks like you guys may not have pick 1 after all

yeah was a great win and good for culture with all the young boys coming through. Didn’t think north could be worse than last year but they have somehow pulled it off. Glad some Suns supporters are happy with the deal, will be good to revisit halfway through the year when the ladder positions are a bit more predictable, hope you boys play finals this year.
