That is massive for mine! Dees are the real deal it seems. If you can pull low 40s against an interstate side on a Thursday I feel that is a great effort.
Great effort Dees and ex Fitzroy supporters on a bloody cold Thursday night and the Lions scored a well deserved and much needed win at the G to get their season back on track!

Another one of those games as a Melbourne fan where I think look at the turnout from our fan base and another crap performance pit in. Reckon a couple of the bombers in this forum will understand.
Hope Anzac eve is above 70k
Yep! I get it. It’s been 20 years! Mind you, you get it too in years prior to 2021.

I thought it was a terrific crowd, though it was probably what last years crowd should’ve been. I think two top 4 teams, Dee’s trending should be 40K+. And it was. So, the world was righted last night.

Not great, though it may help overall attendance if Tigers happen to win Sunday. The tigers might think they are a chance and turn out haha.

Anzac eve last year got 83k. Going into it, Melbourne were 3-2, Richmond were bottom 4 and both teams were coming off a bad loss the week before. It was also a Melbourne home game.
That really was a great crowd and it shows that its a genuine big event game. If the Tigers win on Sunday, surely it gets close to that again.

There was a great moment on the telecast where BT was acting as if the crowd was nothing special, only to be told that it was actually a record crowd between the 2 clubs.

Ticket Sales aren't great yet, particularly in the MCC compared to last year and AFL (as expected).

MCC level 4 is up to row DD for Q46-Q48 and row Z for Q41-Q45, they havent put any of Q37-Q40 on sale yet.
AFL they are selling level 4 front all the way up to Q28 and they are currently up to Q25. Reckon the top of the AFL will be opened to GA on the night like last year.
Still 2 weeks to go but reckon we are looking at low 70s

When it comes to crowds, he is a donkey (then again, he is pretty uselss at everything he does in the commentary box). Takes pot shot guesses at crowds and is always wrong because he has no clue what is above him in the MCC and olympic

Yes the MCC reserve was quite full last night as expected for a Melbourne home game - BTW Brian Taylor would see the MCC members reserve like the rest of us on screen.

I also enjoyed b.t being shocked at finding out that Melbourne usually play a zone defence. I'm shocked when a rusted on footy fan that attends regularly doesn't know about zones, let alone a former player and commentator, that attends at least 2 games every weekend live and from a high vantage point.

Yes, though this isn't a BT problem. Everyone sucks at Estimating what crowds should be, and what they are.

Apart from those in this thread of course
people here study the ticket sales every day and then take into account what the GA turnout might be plus weather and timeslots. You'll find a lot of people here usually are within 2 or 3 thousand of the actual figure.

Speaks volumes that the Thursday nights in Winter always used to be played at Marvel or interstate. Only 4 in the last 7 years have been at the MCG against interstate sides and with the exception of the Richmond Port game I think the other 3 have drawn surprisingly well.

  • Richmond v Port Adelaide Rd 13 2022 - 21,757
  • Melbourne v Brisbane Rd 15 2022 - 37,728
  • Richmond v Sydney Rd 17 2023 - 48,443
  • Melbourne v Brisbane Rd 5 2024 - 43,098
