My take aways are:

1. If that is all Melbourne have got they are cooked already.
2. I like the look of Wilson.
3. Harry has got the yippy putting yipps - which is almost as bad as shanking in golf, almost ...

4. That isn't the midfield Voss is going to play with in season ...

5. Pickett is a junkyard dog who needs to be treated accordingly.

Interesting hitout

While still making some errors, thought Kemp was much better than last week. Positioning still a work in progress but was closer to his opponent and made better decisions

Same with Young, was suspect early but was okay ish. Think Marchbank comes in round 0

While he got better as the game went on, when Williams is ready, I'd take Boyd over Cincotta

Harry still rushing set shot, but think he is in for a better season. If he spends that much time in the ruck, TDK and H chopping out might be better than having Pitto in the side. Although, Pitto will be a different player season proper

Charlie still needs to get on his bike. Super athlete, but less body work and more working into space is more beneficial

Small/Medium forwards still concerning, but think Fantasia and Fog start. Wouldn’t be surprised Moir is there first game

Binns and Wilson way off, but think Wilson gets games ahead of Binns

Kennedy is a no brainer

Walsh pushing hard, club wants to hold him back a little more

Gamestyle was fine, execution/decision making not so much, but will judge it after the first game

Sidenote, wanted/liked Sparrow in his draft year, very underrated player

fantasmagorical built like simmo without the resilience.............
Yeah nothing like, Simmo 342 games of pure blue blood greatness…

Fanta, extremely talented will his body stand up to produce? first bit of play from the middle was exciting, cherry on top player who can cause damage in a good team…

I didn’t watch…

Observations/key learnings from this run?

Good/OK/learning opportunities??
Melbourne were more organised, skilled and displayed good pressure (for a praccy game).

They really could have scored a lot more but missed plenty of goals.

I didnt think we coped with the pressure very well in the first half and we made plenty of skill errors.

Not sure we saw much in the way "improvement" but our intensity was low.

Highlights for me were Harry and TDK's 2nd half. Most players had a brief moment of good play.

Not worried but will hope to see some real grit vs the Lions.

We had nothing to prove tonight and it showed, maybe Melbourne needed to prove something to themselves after their preseaon from hell?

I'm not trying to be a smarty pants, but what does this mean? Do you think we went out there just after Voss said "don't take this game too seriously boys, while the Melbourne coach said "let's play to win"?
I mean from the first quarter Melbourne were hitting and tackling harder; putting more pressure on the ball carrier; gawn was dominant in the middle; and we chased, tackled and kicked at 3/4 pace.

If that was a team directive or just perceived pressure making us play badly I have no idea

I don’t know if we were holding back. But we most certainly should have been.

Humidity up here in Brisbane has been off the charts this year. It has regularly been in the 80s. Tonight it is forecast to get to 94%. The players will not have played in anything like it. They’re going to struggle to run out a game.

Just as importantly, we then have travel back to Melbourne and only a 6 day break before taking on Richmond. It’s a tough gig.

Players didn’t need to be up for tonight, but they need to be up for the next fortnight.
Tigers only have a 5 day break.

The best ruckman I have seen put on a masterclass and showed Pitto up big time.
In the 2nd half big Tom did ok.

They came out with much more intent/ aggression and polish than us. Last year's final still ringing in their ears?

We have plenty to work on before next week however we will be fine.

Harry looking SO GOOD!!!! Has to be him giving TDK a chop out in the ruck. Pitto I am afraid is back up only.

The little cameo from Wilson at the end was very encouraging. He looks a likely type with a lazer of a boot.

Pre-season done........Time to get fair dinkum.

Not even kidding I'd like to see us bring in Monahan for E.Hollands the first 2 rounds. Kids built like some sort of Frankenstenian creation. Power, Speed, Agility... He's a freak.

Give him a go and see what he can do while our fwd options are thin.

The mail was, we found one here…

His agility is off the charts, agreed on ‘freak’ comment…

There are some massively unlikeable players at the Dees.

Pickett was looking for fight most of the night, Gawn whinged for frees incessantly, May is just a total campaigner even with his own teammates and that's even without the clayton's handballer in the stands.

As a team they are neither gracious in defeat or victory!!!

Fancy dive tackling at Saady with 3 mins left in a dead rubber!!!
