"he cops a lot of criticism he 'probably' doesn't deserve" is an insane sentence by any standard

Richo actually explained on Friday night what he meant by the 3 flags in 5 years comment. My head is still spinning - RussellEbertHandball can you remember what he said, because I've got no idea.
I don't see this as a player issue, they don't deserve to cop sh*t about it. Hinkley is obviously good at building relationships with players, they like him because he cares about them as people, not just as footballers. I have no doubt he's helped individuals in dealing with issues and private aspects of their life that they're grateful for. Every coach now talks about building a connection between players and coaches, this shouldn't be a criticism of Hinkley. My personal opinion is hate Hinkely for his coaching, hate the board for keeping him in a job, but the constant pile on of players for supporting Hinkley is a nonsense. There is a difference between defending your coach and drinking the Ken-Aid.
The entire playing group is infected with this sentiment (regardless of if they say it or not). It all starts at the top, and when your captain is coming out with tripe like 'love him like a father' its any wonder why we continually and consistently fail under the bright lights, because the whole place runs off the emotional roller-coaster of 58 year old child.

I have no problems with the 3 in 5 years aspiration. Aspirations are good.It was about setting a high aspiration and trying to achieve it rather than just say we will win one. He talked about the great vs good clubs and that in this century Brisbane (3 then lost a GF), Geelong (3 inc losing 1 GF after first), Hawks (lost a GF then won 3) and Richmond (3 ) all won 3 within 5 years before they dropped away and that the club's aspiration was to join that group of clubs not just win one, like in 2004.
I said to you that they should have gone with the aim is to win one premiership and say that if we achieve that, then the goal was to win multiple premierships in a 5 year period like the above clubs.
And not even thinking for 1 moment that Hinkley might be the problem. If we'd bitten the bullet and sacked him after the 2017 EF, I feel confident that we would have had at least one more flag by now.I have no problems with the 3 in 5 years aspiration. Aspirations are good.
I have a massive problem for the lack of accountability to us not even winning 1.

And how about 3 finals wins in a decade, including a solitary knock out finals win, which only occurred because an opposition player hit the post?Lol, even in their own figures, when they're trying to ignore the elephant in the room, there is a massive glaring couple of duck eggs there.
"have not finished below 12th"
"Third most wins"
How about the fact 12 other teams have made a GF, and 8 have won a flag.
FFS.

This came up among the supporters after the AGM, and the overwhelming sentiment was that we don't need a father figure. Who cares if the players hate the coach - I'm sure nobody at Hawthorn ever said anything about loving Clarkson, but they still won 4 flags under him.The father figure comment grates because umpteen players say it not just Rozee, he's not a community daddy at a wayward youth centre to a bunch of orphans ffs.
Father figure, mate, partner in a dishlicker syndicate it's not normal player/coach connection it's gone too far. This came up among the supporters after the AGM, and the overwhelming sentiment was that we don't need a father figure. Another thing that was mentioned after the AGM was the ginormous party that will be held at Alberton when Hinkley finally leaves. Hopefully The Precinct pre-caters for it - otherwise they'll inevitably run out of beerFather figure, mate, partner in a dishlicker syndicate it's not normal player/coach connection it's gone too far.
YesIf Richardson had come out & owned that his chasing greatness strategy hadn't achieved what was very publicly outlined, and that he and the club needed to look introspectively and make changes where required, I could at least swallow that.
This whole garbage of "oh no people didn't really understand what we meant by what we said, and we make no apologies for aspiring to it ra ra"
I mean not only did we fail every individual goal outlined, but the Magpies won, what? Their first spoon in like decades?!
Are people really that allergic to just putting their hand up and showing leadership and accountability down there??

Ah, so the "AFLW and SANFL flags count as well !!!" was revisionist bullshit that was trotted our after a couple of years of underachieving in the AFL.It was about setting a high aspiration and trying to achieve it rather than just say we will win one. No that was the aim he's either forgotten, lying or trying to appear as though he's full of high aspirations.Ah, so the "AFLW and SANFL flags count as well !!!" was revisionist bullshit that was trotted our after a couple of years of underachieving in the AFL.
Even more reason to despise the insipid regime in charge.
I was the first one on here to say its 3 flags across all grades as the way the counter in the February 2021 virtual AGM graphic was, it went 37, 38, 39, 40.Ah, so the "AFLW and SANFL flags count as well !!!" was revisionist bullshit that was trotted our after a couple of years of underachieving in the AFL.

There was a graphic they put up that pretty much stated it was across the 3 grades wasn't there?I was the first one on here to say its 3 flags across all grades as the way the counter in the February 2021 virtual AGM graphic was, it went 37, 38, 39, 40.
n 2022 I said that it was across 3 grades because to me we count all our premierships not just the AFL ones, as I couldn't see us winning 3 in 5 years.
No it was my interpretation and we had a bit of a debate about it, as you said its 3 AFL flags and I said the way the counter graphic was its got to be 3 across all grades otherwise we wouldn't have had the 37, 38, 39, 40 counter graphic. There was a graphic they put up that pretty much stated it was across the 3 grades wasn't there?
Maybe I'm remembering someone posting an altered graphic lolNo it was my interpretation and we had a bit of a debate about it, as you said its 3 AFL flags and I said the way the counter graphic was its got to be 3 across all grades otherwise we wouldn't have had the 37, 38, 39, 40 counter graphic.
Richo has never said to me that it was across 3 grades. Being sarcastic about the club loving Hinkley I just couldn't believe it was for the AFL side only. I may have been wrong in my interpretation of what they were trying to achieve, but I was confident that they wouldn't achieve it at AFL level.
I thought Richo made his prediction prior to us getting an AFLW side, so it would have been for AFL + SANFL only?No it was my interpretation and we had a bit of a debate about it, as you said its 3 AFL flags and I said the way the counter graphic was its got to be 3 across all grades otherwise we wouldn't have had the 37, 38, 39, 40 counter graphic.
