It's actually a sad reflection of the rest of our team this year. Walshy down, Curnow down ... they're the guys who normally would take votes off him. This is by far Cripps' best season for us. His consistency was incredible.
And he didn't poll a vote in Opening Round. After that in the 12 Carlton wins 10 3 votes and 2 2 votes (against Freo and Essendon)

Cripps has had a fair whack of Botox for tonight hasn’t he? Forehead is not moving

It's moving. I doubt he needs botox just yet.

Can anyone confirm it is impossible for Cripps to win the Gary Ayres award.
Rumour has it he's come in to Norm Smith favouritism for Saturday.

Umpires after a game flop exhausted into the rooms, just having a quiet moment until someone sparks up "so who gets the votes" and there is a collective "**** me, I dunno" groan. Quite often its the midfielder with distinctive hair because they're in front of the umpires most of the game, even if someone else has a blinder.
Umpires are probably so focused on trying to interpret the rules and looking for off the ball stuff, that they don't see which players were the best on the ground. All they seem to remember is who touched the ball the most.

This Is the second season of 23 games.

So while Cripps almost averages 2 votes a game, which is insane, it's worth remembering that precious seasons players had at least 1 less game to poll votes

I'm sure Cripps is a deserved winner. But his and Daicos's tallies are just insane.

Jeremy McGovern got zero votes in a season that got him an All-Australian and a Club Championship.

Great effort to get so many votes.

Is a concern I think that the count is so top heavy. 22 used to win this medal. (Back when forwards defenders and rucka polled votes). Now half a dozen finish with that many.

Makes it a bit boring in a way. Not to take anything away from Patrick and Nick, but are they really that much better than everyone else?

Heeney was better than both and he only got in the 20's.

Patrick yes.
Naicos no.

Cripps is heaps deserving, taking nothing away from him at all, and rather him than some of the others. But if anyone was being honest, its a farce thay he got 45, and Daicos 38. It shows the umpires are likely somewhat influenced by the media. Both got votes in games there were not even in the best 5 or 8 players on the field.

In old times, umpires could identify rucks, defenders and forwards having influence. And give them votes accordingly. These days they have such narrow tunnel vision, they get caught up in who has the most possessions, and getting hyped up by certain names that get talked about. Thus they have turned it into a midfielders only award, and some players get votes based on their name for nothing games. Even with the extra eyes on the field, the standard of umpiring in general, and the Brownlow has gotten worse. Needs a touch up I reckon.

I mean, they're forwards, that's usually how it goes

Yeah I’m across it. It’s not like I’ve never seen a Brownlow before - but it’s getting further and further skewed each year and a total like that for a player who is a perfectly fine winner is ridiculous.

He’s polling almost two thirds of the available votes. He’s a great player. He’s not that great

Crazy to think if Sydney lose the granny, Heeney - who you could argue as being the best player this year and BOG in both finals - is likely to finish the season with no awards outside of an AA.

And if swans win, he's every chance for a premiership, norm smith and Gary Ayres, returning the world to normal.

It would just be karma for that ridiculous apology video your club put out when he (rightfully) copped a week.
