If Saints actually want to split pick 8, I wonder what they would accept. It's a tougher sell than 2 obviously.
18 and 23?
8 is an awkward pick but also could be an amazing pick as a Jagga or an Armstrong might be there.

If we got 8, our hand could be:
1, 6, 8, 10, 11, 20, 24
Or if we want pick 2
1, 2, 6, 10, 11, 20 (assuming we trade 8 and 24 for 2)

It opens up a lot of options.
I like the prospect of having 5 picks within 11.
The first scenario might happen but if that trade for 8 you mention goes through before the draft starts ,North will just trade pick 2 to the Saints for #7 & one of the picks we give them.

Got to admit- it wasn’t until the thought of trading up to pick 2 got taken away that I realised how badly I really wanted to do it.

Reckon we’ve missed a trick by not pairing Lalor & O’Sullivan

Definitely them two at pic 1and 2 we give 6and 18 to Nth Melb then with our picks 10 and 11 we get either Armstrong or Shanahan and either Reid or Travaglia with 11

Thinking about Saints pick 8, would GWS even look at trading up for it? Obviously, Saints would ask for 15 & 16 but that's way overs. Maybe 16 & 21 gets it done?

Saints left with picks 7, 16, 21 & 32
Our later picks are 10, 11, 18, 20, 23

North fans would be hoping for pick 7 & 16 considering they wanted 6 & 11 or 6 & 18 from us LOL

Would leave Saints with picks 2, 21 & 32 instead of 7 & 8. No way they would do that deal.

No-one wants pick 2 LOL Means 10 & 18 would still be their best offer if they get desperate.

I don't think we'd do a trade for 8 for the exact same reasons that the Saints want to trade out of it, that's IF they want more picks, they could well be positioning themselves for a crack at 2
That's why we hold back too after pick 2 is sorted.

Hear me out. There's a world in which we trade 10 and 18 for pick 2 and Norf still get Tauru and Armstrong. This is where the evenness of this draft works for both of us.

1. Lalor (RI)
2. Ashcroft (BR)
3. FOS (RI)
4. Draper (CA)
5. Langford (AD)
6. Lombard (GC)
7. Reid (ME)
8. Smillie (RI)
9. Lindsay (St K)
10. Travaglia (St K)
11. Allan (ME)
12. Tauru (NM)
13. Hotton (RI)
14. Smith (WC)
15. Kako (ES)
16. Berry (PA)
17. Hannaford (FR)
18. Shanahan (GWS)
19. Hynes (GWS)
20. Trainor (WB)
21. Armstrong (NM)
22. Dattoli (SY)
23. J. Whitlock (RI)
24. Marshall (BR)
25. Gross (GWS)
26. Davis (SY)
27. M. Whitlock (RI)
28. Faull (ES) (trade an F1 and pick 40ish to us for this)
29. Oliver (WB)
30-39. A.Bunchaduds (Loser Clubs)
40. A.Champion (RI)

Send in the ticket, Sonny.

I don’t think Jagga Smith will fall to 14, but I do think he’ll slide.

I think that is also the way the top 5 will go (regardless of whether North trade pick 2).

But the real thing I think it highlights is that the first 12 ‘live’ picks are owned by six teams, and from 5-11 by three teams. This is important because I suspect that all three will take a midfielder with their first pick after five, and then with their second pick a more positional player.

So if Melbourne Richmond and St Kilda all have a midfielder ahead of Smith at 5,6 and 7, he could easily slide outside of the top 10. I also suspect that all three would prioritize a big midfielder primarily.

possible, GWS usually like to move forward with picks

As obvious as it is to say, depends on who is there at pick 8.

I don’t think we will see any trading of first round picks between now and draft night. There may be some trades for the later rounds after tomorrow (being the final list lodgment before draft which will determine how many picks each team takes to the draft) but nothing in the first round.

If someone like Jagga Smith is available or even a Tauru, I can definitely see GWS swing the worth of trading 15 and 16 to do it.

Still cant see Saints wanting to trade up to pick 2 if they have picks 7, 15, 16 & 32.

North would want 7 & 16 leaving saints with picks 2, 15 & 32. Thats not getting more 1st rounders.

Personally, it doesn't bother me as its refreshing to hear we want to hold on to pick 6, would be nice however to fleece the North fans who thought 6 & 11 was on the table.

Hand already good and plannable - take overs from someone else for a change!

Absolutely got no idea

our current picks are more than adequate if these remain the way they are..We stand to get absolute quality regardless,,.a fantastic haul of talent

# 1 Richmond
4 clubs have a crack…back to us…

# 6 Richmond
3 clubs have a crack…back to us x2

10 Richmond
11 Richmond

etc…etc…etc..

We could walk away with A combo of Lalor, Jagga/Smillie, Allen, Hotton, Gerreyn, Dattoli…et al

even if Saints get pick 2, will not change too much who is available at 6.

who is available at 8 is potentially juicy I think
