They only have #5 & #9 in this years draft and to give up #9 for F1 and move up 3 spots

Where's the news of the Saints wanting to split pick 8 coming from?
If they did, it's because they want to trade with North, 7 for 2 and a later 1st from splitting pick 8
St Kilda has told clubs it is open to splitting one of its top-10 selections in this year’s draft as part of a strategy to capitalise on the depth in this year’s talent pool.
The Saints have picks seven and eight in this year’s draft and have indicated they could be interested in trading one of them for two picks later in the first round.
The two clubs best-placed to do a deal with the Saints are Richmond (which has 18, 20 and 23) and GWS Giants (15, 16 and 21).

It means the Saints could take a top-line midfielder at pick seven and then snare two players in the back-end of the first-round with its Josh Battle compensation selection.
It would be a bold call from the Saints but recruiters are excited about the level of talent on offer through the back end of the first-round.
The move would effectively see the Saints take three players potentially inside the top-20 of a draft scouts are calling the strongest in several years.
St Kilda may also pull the trigger on draft night, depending on what players are available at pick seven and eight and what deals the Giants and Tigers are prepared to complete.
However, the article never mentions the saints are looking to move up to pick 2, only that they want more picks in the 1st round. No doubt posters will put 2 and 2 together and get 5. LOL
Its called rope a dopeI don’t want to alarm anyone, but Cal Twomey on gettable today said Richmond is looking at Matt Whitlock (amongst others) at pick 10….
Also a great interview with Jagga. Sounds a great kid
ill go full on gretel killeenGeez. Imagine Smith is there at 7 (6) and we pass him up.
This place will shut down
Whilst I don’t think he goes at 14, he’s every chance to be there at 10.
No chance.Watch.
If Adelaide don't take him he's slipping, possibly out of the top 10.
I'd love to learn the way your mind works.if I am RFC, I am doing this!!!!!
forget pick 2, or put it on the back burner.
pick 7 or 8 matters!!!
ask Saint Kilda what later picks they want!!!
you realise Saints could be looking at trading 7 plus one of our picks for 2 from North? this is something might have to live with, not end of the worldIf Saints actually want to split pick 8, I wonder what they would accept. It's a tougher sell than 2 obviously.
18 and 23?
8 is an awkward pick but also could be an amazing pick as a Jagga or an Armstrong might be there.
If we got 8, our hand could be:
1, 6, 8, 10, 11, 20, 24
Or if we want pick 2
1, 2, 6, 10, 11, 20 (assuming we trade 8 and 24 for 2)
It opens up a lot of options.
I like the prospect of having 5 picks within 11.
It's a finely tuned AI that spits out the reverse of what you're expectingI'd love to learn the way your mind works.

i would definitely think about it, or even 20 and 23 for sure, sign me upIf we can get 8 from St Kilda for 18 and 20 then we should definitely do that.
But you said what club is gunna reach for someone they wont get yet the OP was about if they do match they wipe out all of their picks.Umm that’s the point. Bidding players go lower than expected.
There's a presumption here that he had it in the first placeYou’ve lost it
Like always. What's next years draft meant to be like at the top end?
You've never had magic mushrooms?I'd love to learn the way your mind works.
NoShould the Tigers look at trying to get 5 & 9 from the Demons for our 6,11 & 24?
I don't think we'd do a trade for 8 for the exact same reasons that the Saints want to trade out of it, that's IF they want more picks, they could well be positioning themselves for a crack at 2
Will Bo Allen be apart of the Harley Reid deal next year for our first and north first?
North being the biggest case in point.I think the saints are thinking exactly what we are thinking, no point trading your high picks for pick 2 when the draft is deeper than usual.
I think it's a bit concerning to want to trade up when most clubs would rather just have multiple picks in the first round.
North being the biggest case in point.
Only one metro I want is jess dattoliMate Xavier Lindsay he is a must get holy moly. Watching his vic country vs vic metro, looks like a beast. FOS looks so underdone in this definitely looks unfit or like he had missed a lot of footy which he did. I’m starting to think we just go full Vic Country at this point. Lalor - FOS - Lindsay - Travaglia sheeeesh
