Get what your saying but coming from two totally different situations.

Lids is a player manager, he knows his stuff but also he’s absolutely selling his players

Barlow is in development at North. He would be all across these kids too, even have some inside on who North might take. But absolutely must play his best poker face with that.

Dunno if you heard it but different read than I had. Besides they have picks 2 & 62 ( 62 being a non issue, and they were only discussing the 1st round). Barlow wasn't trying to play possum and nobody was asking him who they'll take. He genuinely came across as a buffoon. Even repeatedly asking Dylan who's gonna be this year's Chad Warner (flukey superstar taken later in the draft) like anybody has any idea. He came across as an imbecile plain and very simple!

Their rankings are basically the same

Hannaford not in Dan Batten's top 30. Probably sliding because of his poor 2K.

In my opinion the reported 2 and future first for 6 and 11 favours us so interesting that we aren’t keen.

Makes me think that clubs have come forward with a future first and more for 11 which we see as a better deal for 11. That, plus we aren’t desperate to turn 6 into 2 so need to look at what we are actually getting offered for Pick 11.

Would love to see the list of offers we have had for some of our picks. Recon it would be a decent list. Just got to keep waiting it out, even if that means to draft night.

That's a first

That is how I feel, because I know what I'm suggesting, but for some reason it's not coming across clearly enough for people to grasp it.

Simply put it's 6 & 11 for 2 & North F1 then 10 for one of Essendon F1 and either a F2 or a 3rd this year. I know it's a gamble, but it's one I'm happy to take given the strength of our draft hand this year. If it pays off we get 5 picks inside the top 10 over the next 2 years as opposed to the 3 we would currently have as 10 & 11 are a good chance of being 12 & 13 at best depending on bids.

Please dont think l'm trying to attack you or troll you... its not my intention. I just find you theory completely wrong and has holes everywhere in it.

"If it pays off, we get 5 picks inside the top 10"

You do know that - without ANY "IF's" - we currently have 5 picks in the top 11 over the next 2 drafts. 1, 6, 10, 11 and F1. So whilst you're throwing away the known, purely for the unknown - both in terms of quality of draft and selections.

I read an article from someone the other day, saying that 14 clubs had the potential to make finals, 8 to win the flag if everything goes their way. We will get F1's from those 18-24 picks... so there is every chance that we collect another 2 F1's (and if the cards fall our way, injuries, form, implosions etc... those 2xF1s might end up being top 10 selections next year.

Agree about GWS. They might say no, or demand more fat like a F2 or F3.

North have to pull the trigger at pick 2, they won't know who's left on the board at 6 until after the fact. Sure they could call the other clubs beforehand but no guarantee they don't get bullshitted.

I don't know anything about this pick 11 thing to Bummers. I mean if it's gone regardless then it's pot luck for next year. But if that's the case then sell it to North and have 1,2,10 and F1 instead of 1,6,10 and F1.
If we trade pick 11 to the Bombers for their F1 l'll throw the **** up

Yep listened to it a couple of times. Barlow was absolutely conflicted. Hes a smart man and would be well aware anything he said specifically on the players could and would be used against him.

Reckon there’s any chance of 10 + 11 for 2? North could potentially get both Armstrong and Trainor (who’s a north supporter) at that spot… potentially even Tauru.

1, 2 & 6 would be unbelievable - Lalor, FOS + Jagga/Smilie/Draper/Langford sets our midfield up for the next 10 years.

Edit - I’d personally love Lalor/FOS/Jagga
apart from Pick 1, I am most excited about what we could potentially get at picks 10 & 11. To me I'm holding them at (almost) all costs......

I am content with 6 + 18 for 2.

6 + 11 in this draft is very good currency compared to next year.

1, 2, 10, 11, 20, 23 & 24 going into draft night would be awesome for us.

Does anyone else think that, if this draft is so deep and the talent is so good, then we should be swinging for fences on the top picks? Like Lalor and FOS and then use the later first rounders to draft for other more safe areas?

Jagga looks a safe bet at being able to accumulate but is that what we want? Haven't a lot if the greatest accumulators been later in the draft like Neale and Thompson? Just feel that big risk massive reward could be done on these players that could have brilliant x factor talent.

I’m not a fan of trading up to two, for the very reasons you mention- draft depth.
I think there’s going to be plenty of the X-factor talent you mention available to us, and with around 7 picks we can use a selection or 2 on players like Hotton, Hynes, Datolli.
I suppose if you’re a massive FOS fan, you hold the opposite view

I don’t understand why you’d prefer to give up 6 & 11 than 10 & 11?

Because giving up 10&11 removes us of grabbing on of the key outside players who aren’t a mid ranked around 8-14 Tobie trvaglia, alix Tauru, Harry Armstrong, Joe Berry etc. we only need two midfielders as we are going to probably draft another midfielder next year with pick one so you need to diversify.
