Jagga gives us the type of midfielder that we're missing and would compliment one of Lalor FOS Smillie or Langford better than having 2 of the same type.

For starters we are pretty much missing everything.

I’d argue that Jagga actually overlaps with what Taranto does at his best. Jagga is a better kick obviously but Taranto better at pressuring and as a forward.

Both are accumulators and both thrive at clearances/first possession.

Jagga is a fine pick but he’s no better a compliment to our current midfield (well just Taranto) than Lalor/FOS/Langford/Smillie and those guys all compliment each other really well anyway.

With so much focus on the #2 pick I can't help but feel a lot of people have the blinkers on.
Its more likely that we get a deal done with the Crows or Blues.

Any bid around #20 on either Camporeale or Welsh with stuff both of those clubs remaining 2024 picks & will also impact their 2025 picks.
Both clubs have a genuine reason to be on the phone to Blair.

It also explains the CFL's warning to clubs doing side deals around academy / father sons.

Any bid at 20 for those guys likely wouldn’t be matched because it’s too far of a reach for them

Teams won’t bid on them at 20. They’ll be lucky to be bid on before 40.

Our list has more holes than Swiss Cheese, so just take best available with the first four, then target needs with the late picks.

Worry about targeting specific players once the core of the list is there.

Yay! Totally agree with you on something. First 4 have to be best available... even if it means were getting 3 gun midfielders.

wow Lalor's catalogue of injuries is even worse than I thought, poor bloke is held together with sticky tape. it's almost as bad as Quinton 'brittle bones' O'Sullivan.

Question for those who've seen these kids play this year.... What is Smillie's perceived weaknesses? Aside from a quiet champs carnival, is there anything else that explains why he's sliding from #1 earlier in the year? I've been watching some of his tapes and I'm getting excited that he will be there at 6 (7) to pair up with Lalor.

Granted they're highlights, but he moves incredibly well for someone his size IMO. Very clean below the knees and the biggest thing he has going for him is his foot skills. That gives him an enormous point of difference to all the other large inside mids in the competition as most of them are limited in what they can do with the ball. It's not often those inside bulls have to worry about their direct opponent getting handball receives, but Smillie has a leg that would be fed by his team mates. He could be a nightmare to stop if he continues to improve.

Even if he is limited aerially, who gives a sh!t when the players around him are a foot smaller. He's going to mark it or have his arms chopped by oppo most time it's kicked at him while his playing midfield anyway. Also, I noticed he cracked the top 10 at the combine for standing vertical jump so he could easily improve his marking with that in his toolkit.

I likey a lot.

Swap Lindsay for Smillie ( defensive winger who can cut a team up with his delivery in transition + too many mids)
Hotton > Berry (heaps better foot skills)
M Whitlock > Oliver (I get the Whitlock choice, but Oliver would be better, similar to Lindsay)

But at pick 10 seems a massive stretch?

Probably a slight reach. But I had him at 20 in my personal rankings, it’s an even draft and if we don’t think he will be there at Pick 18, then we need to bite. If we have our current picks, if we do 1, 6 and 10 as mids then 11 we can “reach” for a KPP

No.

We heart Smillie.

Hotton beats Berry in everything but kicking.

We're keen on bookending the Whitlocks. We don't need a HBF this draft.

Here we go - We give St Kilda Drafts Picks 11 18 20 23 in exchange for picks 7 and 8 therefore we have Picks 1 6 7 8 and 10 (Idea was taken off a Richmond Supporter on Facebook !) That will then leave us to pick up Sam Davidson and Ash Johnson !
I'll say this as clearly as I can
ASH JOHNSON IS CRAP

You personally think pick two is as good as gone or?

Cal Twomey says he's not as sold as some on a pick 2 deal happening.

Says it'll be hard for North to do a pick 2 deal with anyone else but Richmond, although they have tried.
By draft night Norf will accept 23 & 24

If I were to put my hard earned on an ending scenario pertaining to pick 2, I'd likely chuck $20 on this.
We don't do the trade until draft night and it just ends up being pretty simple.
6 and 18/20 for 2.
Both teams win.
Richmond get access to the best two kids in the draft (that are available to them).
North in all likelihood get Tauru and the three selections they need to fill the list spots and also get an extra selection in the first round.
