Interesting. As a Carlton fan yourself, do you think Smith is a good fit? Feels like he is very similar to Walsh. Thought you'd want a more dynamic/explosive type.

I’m happy with it. I think they are a little different. Walsh is more the link up workhorse who just covers the ground.

IMO Smith offers a point of difference in his movement with and around the ball in clearance and his first few steps to make space. I think he’s much more creative when it comes to clearing the contest and moving the ball forward than Walsh.

Any idea who Dees are keen on at 5? Think they're the hardest to place.

All the talk is Langford, but they could move a number of ways;

1. If there is a suprise slider that gets to 5 (Draper?)

2. If North move 2 to Richmond, they may want first first crack at Tauru (assuming North get six in the deal)

3. They may pull the trigger on Armstrong early to get ahead of St Kilda, and bank on a slider getting to 9 from that same move.

So many variables.

If you're right about Smith to Blues then I think Draper will be there.

If we acquire pick 2 from North at the expense of pick 6, does it really matter?

By that point we would have selected our highest two rated mids, and can then look at other needs if we want at 10/ 11.

The premium we place on pick 6 lessens if we hold pick 2 in my opinion.

1. Lalor/ FOS
2. Lalor/ FOS
10. Shanahan/ Armstrong
11. Travaglia/ Lindsday/ Hotton

Given we would have picked mid/ mid at 1+2 .. I feel like we will likely be getting the same player at 10 as we would at 6 (assuming we don't go another mid in the shape of Langford/ Smillie)

In summary, no issues giving up 6 and keeping 10 + 11.

The equation is more what is the cost of doing that upgrade though. Are we giving up our next CHF to maybe get a slightly better player.

Just don't see the point of giving up Smillie & something else to get 2.

If the mail starts to turn and Smillie will be gone then we may get more aggressive.

Adelaide will be interesting.

Do they pull the trigger on the local Crows supporter? (Draper)

Or do they take Langford and try to bank on trying to lure Draper home in a few years. This plan probably would have been easier if WCE kept pick 3 and selected Draper.

Any chance pick swaps get done before the Friday deadline?

Or are all these talks just for on the night trades and contingencies?

So in a very deep and even draft we’ve traded 10, 11 and 23 for 2 and 16.

No thanks.

I'm bored, so I'm playing around, my personal preference is we just keep all our picks unless we get some kind of ridiculous offer.

Not trading any combination of pick 6 for pick 2.
No offering Pick 24 unless it's only for a future pick of decent value.

Everyone here seems to think the Roos will just hand us pick 2 for nothing lol

If we aren't giving up pick 6, so we have to give something, will take multiple picks, 10 & 11 isn't going to cut it, won't get them a pick high enough for Tauru and 2 picks won't give them any room to trade up so they won't give up pick 2.

What do you suggest we offer for pick 2 and keep pick 6 & 24? Just curious.

My guess would be the AFL would love the suspense of them happening “real time”
IMHO, if a deal gets done for 2, it will be agreed on before the night and then announced with the drama of the moment on draft night.

Blair's held firm right from the start! 6 isn't going anywhere nor is 24. First offer is 10 and 20 second offer will be 11 and 18 then the compromise will be 10 and 18. It'll be the first pick swap on draft night after north ask for extra time after a failed attempt at 6 and 23.

They will then offer their future first to the highest bidder which they'll struggle to sell before 15.

Their only other option will be the saints down grading pick 8 and sending 7 with 15ish but just comes across as stupid from the saints who would surely rather the extra picks!

Either way if North are deadset on trading out 2 then they're in a horrible spot to get proper value for it!

If they're lucky they might be able to scrape together 10,15/16, 18 and 65. Or 2 and 15/16 and 65. Either option is still shit for them but a hell of a lot better then 2 and 65.

RFC needs to stand firm.

enough is enough and I think other clubs feel RFC is a wallflower so they attempt to *******e us everytime

6 and 10 or 11 for 2 is ****ing outrageous

we could have got pick 3 and forced North to select who they want at 2
Yeh Nah because you didn't get pick 3 and RFC left with whatever falls at 6. Could be Langford. As mentioned previously a combination of Lalor and Langford would be an unmitigated failure when you add Hopper and Prestia to that midfield.

Tigers are desperate for 2 but trying to make out like they don't care.

Also there was a rumour that Finn’s family were told Richmond were gonna trade for pick 2 and take him. That’s not true, nothing like that has come from Richmond. He reckons he’s a chance at number 1 still.

Got it from a good source we haven’t said anything about taking him at 2, nor given any indication of what we want to do. He’s getting told from other teams via his manager about what seems likely, but nothing from us. Absolutely nothing from us besides regular interest in the form of interviews and conversations at the combine, and ongoing dialogue through his manager/team (not sure of that dynamic).

But there is noise from other teams that we want to trade for 2 and take him, and he’s getting told that

I’m not adding anything new but because of how confident I am on the information I thought I should post. Have no intel on Lalor or anything else, just purely from the O’Sullivan side. He’s obviously keen to get to Richmond or the Blues. Bombers fan, not hard core though

He has said he’s a hawks fan in multiple interviews

He has the same physique as Zac Butters in his draft year. He turned out alright.

Jagga hasn’t had a single preseason at a professional club and people are questioning whether he’d put on the size required to play afl football? Seems a bit unfair, and that’s ignoring the fact that he has already played against men in the VFL and still dominated. If you watch his interviews you’d see how professional he is - I have zero doubt he’d put in the work to be a star at the next level.
A selected sample of one does not support any hypothesis. There are dozens with vastly different outcomes.
Jagga has been out of school for 12 months now, he has had a preseason working with professional conditioning coaches.
I have no doubt about his professionalism and other strong qualities. But the question remains valid, just like questions on others.

McAullife, is actually pretty quick, ran a 2.9 at the 23 combine. I’ve seen that speed out of stoppages at VFL level.

What he lacked this year was a tank, so looked slow at AFL level because didn’t have the repeat efforts in him. A couple of preseasons and a new conditioning coach, he’ll be ok.
Reckon he’ll be better than anyone we draft this year. He has the X factor.
