It’s been a few weeks but here is the latest I’ve heard.

Lalor definitely going at 1.

We don’t rate FOS. Quote I heard is “his attitude doesn’t match his talent” or something to that effect and that he doesn’t have the “Richmond Man” qualities the recruiters look for.

North have offered 2 scenarios which have been widely reported in the media, pick 2 for 6 & 18 or pick 2 & Nth F1 for 6 & 11.

Tigers have so far knocked back both. They were interested in 6 & 11 for 2 & F1 but more because the F1 is likely top 5 next year which is appealing as it would obviously give us 2 very high end picks in next years draft. The stumbling block is we think the talent that will be available at pick 11 is potentially as good as a top 5 pick next year and as mentioned above, we don’t want FOS so the other options that have been widely reported as available at pick 6 would be the players we would be taking at 2. The socials team have done videos for Smillie, Jagger, Langford so I’m assuming the club is banking that at least 1 will be available at 6 given we will take Lalor and it’s expected Nth will take Tauru and Blues will take FOS (& potentially crows take Draper). My mate has no idea who it is that we like or want most at 6, he said it’s all super hush hush in the club, but the work they have done for Lalor packages is way more than everyone else which should tell you something…

The club doesn’t like 6 & 18 combo for the same reasons in regard to the upgrade to 2 but also because the initial discussions with other clubs has plenty of interest in 18 being the landing place of clubs that will offer F1’s for next year. (I’m assuming here that we are thinking an F1 from Bombers, Saints etc could be just as easily better than Norths F1 next year with no certainties on where any of the battler clubs will finish…)

I think from what I’ve been told we will keep 1,6,10,11 and use 3 on mids and 1 kpp and then for the right offer 18 will be traded for a future pick and the picks in the 20’s we are happy to shuffle and accumulate futures as long as they also come as part of slides this year that fall within the top 25-40 (similar scenario to last year). We will take a minimum of 6 picks this year, potentially 7 but it’s a certainty that 18 will be used in exchange for a F1.

During trade week when I gave the information in regard to the Dockers trade pretty much everything came to fruition or remains consistent with the exception of the Whitlock boys. Back then I think the club was interested in pairing them and believed it was a realistic chance to happen but with some of the offers we are fielding for our later picks, I think the clubs strategy has shifted and now it’s looking pretty unlikely for that to happen and instead for pick 10 or 11 to be used on the best available KPP.

Anyway that’s all I’ve got for now, hopefully my mate can jag a few more bits of info before draft night…
Anyone who claims to have inside info is full of shite. Blair is tighter than anyone else in the league. Not even our own team know what’s gonna happen yet.

The don’t rate FOS is also almost certainly BS.

Hopefully a pick swap that helps us get pick 2 without losing pick 6.

Pick 10 and 20 for 7 and 32
Pick 7 and 18 for pick 2.

Lalor, FOS and Smillie.
Kills the concept of live trading if that was the order the pick swaps occurred.

Would expect Richmond to draft Lalor at pick 1 which would probably kill StKilda's interest in pick 2. North would then consider trading down to pick 6, if they were confident that Tauru would last until then. Could be 6 + 18/20 for 2 or 6 + 11 for 2 + F1.

When the draft reached pick 7 or 8 the Saints would be open for a pick swaps then.

If there hasn’t been a bid for Kako by picks 10/11 then I can see Essendon coming to us and offering a real treasure trove for us to slide pick 11 back to their pick 28 (as they’d no longer need pick 28 to match any bids)

If we went Lalor, Smillie, Armstrong and then got 28, F1 + F2 for 11 I’d be happy with that (both F1’s would be better but that’s probably pushing it)

Essendon will want to get back into the first round after a bid on Kako.

They have the draft capital to make it happen, 28 & 31 are definitely on the table as they'll get chewed up. They also have a combination of either 2 x F1's or an F1 & F2

We are the prime candidates to trade with for that entry back into the first round with picks 10 & 11, WCE, Port & Freo with 12, 13 & 14 wont trade out, they might have to settle by dealing with GWS at 15 or 16 if they can't deal with us but we would be the preferred option.

Put yourselves in Blair's shoes, what would you do?

If there isn't a bid on Kako by pick 10, then place a bid. Essendon will match, but they'll lose 28 & 31 in the process and will want to trade those picks out for value (if they haven't already)

They now have the option, pretty much the only option, of getting back into the first round at a pick that has serious value.

My question is, what capital would you consider acceptable in exchange for pick 11? Remembering that the Dons are on the clock
Dons aren’t on the clock. Richmond is and your assumption is Essendon will be calling. May not happen.

It’s more likely that if Kako has not yet been bid on, Essendon comes for our pick 10 or 11 to jump ahead of the Kako bid. In that case I’d want both the Essendon and Melbourne future picks.

Herald Sun reporting that

Saints are in talks with Richmond and the Giants about one of our picks (likely 8)

We want 2 later first rounders.
Could be done as a live trade. The Saints might get better offers depending on who is available.

If I was SOS, I would threaten to bid on Kako at pick 8 to get Essendon to pay overs (2 F1s).

Rich give Pick 10 for Port 13+29
Saints give Pick 7 for 11+20
Nth give Pick 2 for 7+18

Saints end up with 8+11+20
Nth 7+18
Rich with 1+2+6+13+23+24+29, give 10+11+18+20 for 2+13+29
Can u organise this please?

If we’d picked up Armstrong then your right the Dons would be very keen to snap up Shanahan.

Tbh Kako and Shanahan would be a great draft haul for Essendon.
