Long term lurker, first post so be gentle, or whatever.
I know a guy who is quite connected to the Melbourne football club and he heard we have been supposedly speaking to St Kilda. Whether it's about pick swaps, dwarfs or schoolgirls, I'm not sure, but anyway, he has strong connections at the Dee's so maybe it's true.

What do people think of Ollie Hannaford?

i know some will be fans, but I like his long kicking, versatility, speed and defence

Normally I am not super keen on smaller types and forwards but this guy seems to have more strings to his bow than most which I find enticing

PUNISHER
Fast, agile, strong, kicks bags of goals, booming kick, competitive, crunching tackler, versatile. Thrives on pressure, & big moments, close to 'best on' in the CTL grand final. A bit raw, doesn't have the polish of the top players, but in the 20s 👍 👍 👍

why would we entertain trading 6 and 11 for 2 and a future 1st.

Two reasons NOT to do it ...

1.) The top 10 is so even the number 1 pick has been different 5 to 6 times. So our pick at 6 (langford, Smillie,) and 10 (Reid, Taru) could easily be top 5... so why trade two equally good players for 1 that is the same as the others?

2.) Next years draft might as well be a joke on how compromised it is so why would we trade into it?

yeah, not a finished product but seems to have a lot going for him

Bauer is the same height and weight as Broad 192cm & 86-88kg. He is a cm shorter and up to 6kg lighter than McIntosh, are you going to suggest they're KPP as well? Lefau is 195cm & around 95kg, Balta is 194cm & around 100kg, Gray & Blight are 195 & 196cm respectively and around 92-94kg each.

Not sure how you reach that conclusion based on what I said, because what I'm actually suggesting is that instead of putting all our eggs in the trade & free agency basket we give ourselves the best chance of unearthing our next genuine number 1 KPF by hitting the draft now, as we've got the draft hand to do so and not hurt our rebuild in any way.

My solution is to target 1-2 KPFs and a genuine ruck with our picks between 20-24. With 1, 6, 10 & 11 we target the best possible midfield talent, which should mean 4 of Lalor FOS Smith Smillie Reid Langford Lindsay Allan Draper are picked up. Then with picks 18-24 we target the best available KPPs/Ruck on the board and start to rebuild that area of the list as well, having already addressed the midfield unit.

I really don't get the reluctance to bring in quality 2 young KPP & a genuine Ruck in a draft where we hold 1/3 of the first 24 live picks. Different if we just had the 2 or 3 picks in the draft, but we can actually address weaknesses across the board with our picks and not hurt our rebuild in any way, we actually enhance the rebuild and can then use the next couple of drafts to start targeting specific areas of need.

Not only that but it actually opens up our ability to go and be aggressive in free agency and trading, because we will be able to cough up a top pick to get it done, knowing that we've already got

Walker is 100-105kg, Bauer is 86-90kg big difference in size and strength as well as the ability to contest against big bodied defenders.

It’s as much to do with how someone plays, not their height. Rampe (187cm) plays more like a KPD than Blakey (196cm) does.

Sicily (188cm) is more of a KPP than Weddle (191cm). Sicily has played on Tom Lynch many times … I can’t imagine Weddle ever lining up on Lynch.

So Bauer being 192cm doesn’t settle arguments either way. It’ll come to light as he gets more games whether he plays like a KPP, or plays like a ‘3rd tall / flanker’. His height won’t be the deciding factor.

Getting 7 or 8 off Saints would be sweet but it'll mean we cough up 10 or 11 plus a later pick. Maybe something like 11 and 23 for 7 and F1?

Leaves 1, 6, 7, 10, 18, 20, 24. That's Lalor and two of Smillie, Jagga, Draper and Langford with our first 3 picks.

My question is, what capital would you consider acceptable in exchange for pick 11? Remembering that the Dons are on the clock

if you mean trading our pick 11 into a future first, the answer is NONE. This draft is too good to be trading out of it.

The only trade deal I could see using pick 11 would be in some package for Norths pick two

Is there a chance we get pick 8 for picks 18 and 20. Would assume the reason to trade up is to get Armstrong?

Thanks for the info.

Saints 8 for 18 and 20.

Then we do 8 and 10 for North’s 2 and a F1.

1,2,6,11,23,24 and a F1.

Saints have 7 & 8, why would they swap 8 for 18 & 20 ? no logic ..18 & 20 are valuable picks for KPFs we really need now !
plus if North take 8&10 then they would take 10&11.....but they would reject both
