I genuinely would not be against us taking Draper at 1 or trading up to take him at 2.

I hadn't looked much into him till the last few nights, he is seriously impressive.

Could almost argue the pick of the trio when comparing Lalor / FOS / Draper.

Would be happy if Draper was picked...a talent!

All I’m saying is having a player like Allan in our midfield would be an asset. We don’t have a lot of two way runners, who crash packs, create opportunities for teammates at stoppages.
You need a mix of midfielders.
Also he’s a great leader, future captain. We need to identify our next generation of leaders

Feel the same. I think that fact we have pick 6 makes it an easier decision to take him at 1 because pick 6 we are still going to grab another decent young mid. If we got pick 2 from North and had to give up 6, i think taking Lalor & FOS is too great a gamble.

No, their not, you're not a recruiter so what makes your opinion so much better than anyone elses? Also, a lot of us here watched FOS play in our VFL team (not just a video clip) and his performance was below expectations. He did one nice baulk and kicked a nice goal yet we are supposed to be gooing over him? LOL

FOS - country co-captain and oakleigh vc
Langford - stingrays captain and vc at country
Lalor - GVW and Country co captain
Smillie - eastern and afl academy captain.
Draper - SA captain

It’s not just cost they are the best players it’s because they’re a sensational group of professionals and high character kids.

I gotta admit, the hate some have for FOS is a bit over the top. It's cool to have a difference of opinion but there's a reason why he's touted to go within the first 3 picks.
The fact that he is still rated that high after having an underwhelming draft year stats wise should speak volumes about his potential.

I joke about feeling physically ill if we took either of the Whitlock's but ultimately I'm sure either would be an okay option if it were to go that way.

When you're dealing at the pointy end of a draft, a lot of it is all based around potential.

Just don’t trust WA form. He dominated some Colts games but looked a bit at at sea in limited opportunities at WAFL. And family/go home factor. If our recruiters have done their work…

FYI, I rate FOS as a top 2 pick, but there's a lot of noise re: other clubs preferring someone else over him. Him slipping to our 2nd pick is wishful thinking but wouldn't be upset with Smillie at 6(7) either.

Without a doubt the best highlights package of all the players in 2024

His marking & kicking are exquisite, and tackling is fierce. Ball handling and reading of the play is A+
Whilst we have no info about his speed he look just as quick as FOS & Jagga at the least

I was just reading through all these wish lists of posters and shaking my head.

Few tips, guys, for those of you doing your 'this is how I see it going' lists:
1. Tauru is not going at 2
2. Jagga is not going before FOS
3. FOS is not sliding to our pick 6. If he doesn't go pick 2 I will be surprised, and if he doesn't go by pick 3 I will be gobsmacked. I repeat, no one is picking Jagga if FOS is on the board.
4. If Jagga and Smillie are there at our pick 6, get ready to welcome the big fella.

You've just disqualified yourself as a judge of footy talent, because he blew away many observers, including Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris: "“I was really excited by Finn's game. He looked a class above the level. The really impressive thing from Finn was the fact that he probably could have thrown the towel in after a really heavy knock in the first quarter that reduced his time up the ground and around the footy, but he put his hand up to stay out on the field for the team and just looked really classy with ball in hand, made some really good decisions, and showed his lateral movement and strength in contest. Really exciting to see him step up and match it with senior players at VFL level.”

Compare that to Morro's words about Jagga in the same game: “It was great to have young Jagga Smith in Richmond colours over the past few weeks. It was the first time we got to see him in great conditions, and I thought he led the way around the contest with 17 contested possessions and seven clearances. He's got a bright future ahead of him.”

'He's got a bright future' is not exactly 'He looked a class above the level.'

If you think all Finn did in that game was one nice baulk you don't understand what you were looking at. Everything he did screamed 'too good for these duds'.

i've already seen all the clips in the video before, but having them all together under certain categories is mint, love your work noobermensch

but far out, lalor's overhead marking and the way he attacks it in air is grouse, and the way he seeks the don't argues...


just makes me want the lalor&smillie duo even more, have them joined at the hip and have lalor teach him the skills i listed above. both tackle hard, would be some mean bash brothers, unstoppable

I guess if Lalor turns out too be shit and Smillie kills it then i guess it's still a win for us.
