I would hate to invest a pick 10/11 on a player that might become a good medium defender (maybe)

genuine quality mid or KPF at these selections

We drafted Vlaustuin at 9. Which in hindsight has been about right. I’d say he was in the top 10 of his draft class still.

Like Allen, Vlaustuin was thought to be a mid long term but it never worked out.

It’s not like I’m worried about it for Lalor, it’s just the separator. FOS clocked 1000 yo-yo preseason, Travaglia 920, Jagga 840, Langford and Smillie 720.

Others I know as current afl comparison is Sheezel 1040 and Mckercher 960.

FOS’ endurance is elite already and everything else between the two is close.
This makes his inability to find the footy in 2024 even more concerning to me.

Officially a maximum of 92 picks are available to be taken in the National Draft next week. We still have the 8 available picks despite some suggestion that we'd only have 7 picks available due to Colina reportedly being made a Cat A rookie.

That was never the suggestion. We always have had 8 picks overall. If we're going to re-list Colina as a rookie, though, we only have 8 list spots to do so. Therefore we can only take 7 picks maximum in the National Draft

They've delisted Colina with a promise for the flexibility with the picks. We didn't straight promote him to Cat A

Meh, doesn’t bother me, he found the ball fine previously. Even Ricky Ponting had a down summer sometimes when young.

He still had a significant impact on games with the possessions he did have.

The issue is we still have 7 Cat A rookies and can only have a maximum of 6, so if we're going to redraft Colina as a Cat A rookie we'll need to elevate 2 players to the senior list to allow that to happen, which would mean we're only taking 6 picks in the draft next week.

I originally voted for Jagga but have since changed my mind to Lalor. You can't doubt Jagga will be very good at AFL, he's ticked every box at the right stage of the year, but Lalor has that genuine X factor, that was on show at the champs. IMO he looks the most talented. The uncertainty about him, i.e. recent injuries and not doing combine, weighed on my mind back then, but these are unfortunate and can't in all seriousness be viewed as a knock on him in any way. You don't get players like Lalor in every draft. I hope we pick him #1. We can always pick up a Jagga type with our next year's first.

We had 9 main list spots and currently -1 cat A spots.

Young just got promoted so we have 8 & 0. Someone else will get promoted Tuesday I assume and give us 7 & 1

So as per the Sun article today

Nth happy to trade 2 and F1

Want more picks in top 20

Will not reach for Tauru

Says we will not trade 2 top 12 picks

May trade F1 on its own and take a mid at Pick 2

May trade F1 + Pick2, but we will not give the 6+10/11, either way we do not trade Pick 6

Reckon in the end our best offer may be 10+11 for F1+Pick2, Up to them

or we play him in the reserves, help him out, keep him around and pick him up in a mid-season later.

Unless someone cares about formality, makes next to know difference, no one cares about status in the footy world, it is about how you help teams win premierships, he will not be playing in the ones for the first six months surely anyway, so takes one for the team and makes our team and prospects stronger. Unless Colina worries about status who gives a toss, any incentives can be set-off in other ways so how does he lose out? And if some are upset about this, this is called evolving to survive in the real world, law of the jungle so you adapt to survive and prosper down the track!!

Wondering if Colina can still be classified as a Cat B rookie for a 5th year since they made the change back in August that allows for rookies with under 10 games to get extra eligibility. If that was the case then we would still re-draft him as promised.

Would see the list become:
28 senior listed
6 Cat A rookies
2 Cat B rookies

Leaving the 8 spots to be filled at the draft as Yze was suggesting would happen in the video yesterday.
