Smith or Draper (if they slide)

Otherwise split and get some damn forwards.

We can bid on Kako/Ashcroft and Lombard to buy us time to find a good split deal.
Agree that Smith or Draper would be great, but give it about a 1% chance now.

Splitting nine is fine, but I wouldn't be splitting the Langford pick, personally. Think he's a fair bit ahead of that next group.

We need a forward fleet of fast moving high pressure players who can hit the scoreboard more than another lumbering slow midfielder to go with Oliver, Trac, Viney, Sparrow and Tholstrupp.

Defenders are going to enjoy walking the ball out of there D50 in 2025 if all we got in there is Chandler, Petty and Fritsch.

I saw a clip from gettable on facebook of two draftees playing mario kart, i then decided not to watch more
O'Sullivan was the worst Mario Kart player I've ever seen. Should slide now

Unlike you to be hyperbolic lol.

Langford is 18. By the time he's playing midfield full-time, Viney will likely be retired, Trac and Oliver could be elsewhere, Sparrow will be playing in the SANFL Reserves, and Tholstrup won't be a full-time mid (he's also not slow, see: him coming second in agility testing at the combine).

Nice omission of Pickett and Rivers from both your lines too.

Agree we could use some more forward half pressure players. You just don't give up Pick 5 for that type.

I didn’t mention Pickett or Rivers as they aren’t slow lumbering mids. One of these blokes is suspended half the year and talked about leaving every year anyway.

If we could turn Pick 5 into GWS picks 15/16 and 21 (or 10/11 from Richmond) and bring in Allan/Berry/Hotton and say Dattoli you would have to consider it.

All of these blokes could eventually go through the midfield if we needed them to as well.

(If we had enough list spots).

This draft has good depth but is weaker at the top end. So it would be a no brainer for me.

When JT reaches for a bolter in the past:

1) Clayton Oliver
2) Luke Jackson
3) Kysiah Pickett

Seems to work well.

But when JT shows interest in this year's bolter, Tauru:

board: "can you fn not!"

FWIW the only situation I wouldn't take Tauru with our first selection is if by some miracle Lalor or FOS were still on the board

Go back and look at the 2019 draft most people melted with Jackson.

Pretty sure we downgrade a pick for kozzy.

I don't recall 2015 but was Oliver that much of a bolter.

There's a significant difference in the talent and positional importance/need of Tauru and the three you've listed.

People are allowed to have their preferences.

Oliver was definitely a bolter but by the time of the draft most people had him as a top 5 pick so it wasn't really a reach in that sense. I don't know if people had Jackson as high as he went

Thanks for the updates over the last however long, Scythe94. Has made it easy to be able to follow along somewhat despite not really following the draft.
No worries, friend  I've always enjoyed following the draft. Makes up for how much I detest trade period lol

He was a little but it was Paul Roos who told Taylor to take him not the other way around

Ive heard people say this but I don't think it's completely fair. Think Taylor had him shortlisted and Roos said he was the best of the lot. I'd be surprised if the coach isn't involved in some level over all drafting decisions.

According to this article it was actually Tim Lamb who first noticed him.

Jackson was not a bolter he first on draft board followed by line ball Serong / Young.
The bolter if 12 didn't fall as did was going to be Kemp

I remember Clayton as a bolter, didn't make the vic country rep team but played bloody well at TAC level which put him in the conversation.

There was an AFL article on him maybe a couple of months before the draft with this photo and I remember thinking I didn't want the club to touch him he looked so out of shape.

To his credit, at his peak Clayton turned himself into an elite runner which was the biggest knock pre-draft.

I was keen on Aaron Francis in the draft that year :drunk:
