Would Melbourne trade 5&9 for 7&8?

If so who do would you pick?

Saints would take the best midfielder.
Assume Tauru is available at 7.
I think Melbourne will be interested in the best midfielder available at pick 5. Haven’t drafted specifically for the midfield for a long time and think it’ll be their target area this draft.

I really can’t see Melbourne parting with pick 5. And unlikely pick 9. I think saints fans a bit mad they may just miss out on one of the top tier mids.

Yeah would make zero sense for us to trade either of those picks considering what we gave up.

lol it’s more about our clubs ability to manage players.
Granted, but is your point that we just shouldn't recruit good players as we 'can't manage them'?

Love a pre-draft melt.
Im resisting after seeing Fox Footy's where we pass on Draper for Tauru, but rest assured if this was to happen ill be going full Mich0 in this bitch.

Anyone else concerned by our clubs small forward stocks?

In a period where they are as important as ever

ANB = gone
Pickett = suspended and played in guts half the time
Spargo = leg cooked

Leaves us basically with Chandler to rule the roost, a bloke who wouldn’t get a run at most other clubs. Suprised we aren’t more into Berry or Reid or trying to slide back a few slots to snare a combo of Reid/Hannaford/Berry ect.

We are going to have the slowest most lumbering forward line in the league in round 1 next year. If Chandler gets injured or needs a spell we will be relying on blokes like Petty and Fritsch to apply that forward pressure.

Surely Adelaide don’t pass on Draper for Langford when they already have Dawson and Curtin as those supersized, slower mids.

I love Draper, as I've said many times, but almost hoping that Adelaide take him so that we get Langford and don't do something silly like take Tauru over Draper.

Yeah TBH I am. I really like Berry and would definitely be open to sliding back a few spots from 9 to grab him + maybe Reid or Hynes. I know that flies in the face of giving up a stack of later picks to grab pick 9, but it makes sense to me.

We also have Mentha coming as a rookie as a NGA prospect - a small forward (no guarantees he will be any good).

The biggest change in terms of our lack of speed and pressure up forward though has to come from the coach. He plays three talls + Fritsch + Melk ... just so slow and lumbering. He has to realise speed and pressure are vital in today's footy otherwise it won't matter who we pick.

Kinda funny how the best tall forwards of the 90s weren't exactly tall anyway. Lockett and Dunstall were as wide as they were tall and Ablett was mid turned forward ball of muscle as well.
Height is so irrelevant in a forward line these days, our best key forward is Fritsch who's the smallest of them all, second most dangerous is Trac who's more in the Ablett size

We are going best available and yet the brains to be at Melbourne honestly think a 3rd tall defender that can't kick is the best top 5 talent across the country.

Unbelievable
I refuse to believe this is a thing and its just us trying to suck North in. We will take Draper

Yeah exactly. If we could find a way to isolate Fritsch and Koz and even Trac and get everyone the **** out of the 50, we'd be so much better.

Cal Twomey just said on AFL gettable that if Adelaide selects Langford, we'll take Tauru.

Assume this means Jagga is off the board tough, or does this mean we would also pass on Jagga for Tauru?

We would be better off trying to split 5 for 10/11 or 15/16 and snare 2 of Berry/Reid/Hannaford/Hotton if true.

We will be in a position to live trade if who we want isn’t there so we would be idiotic not to. Would be plenty of takers for that pick.

I can guarantee we wont be doing this. Even though it probably would be the correct move.

Jagga will most likely go to Carlton

And breathe. Adelaide will take Draper, they'd be stupid not to.

Imagine playing Lever, Turner and Tauru all in the same team trying to play the loose unaccountable 3rd tall flying for the same marks.

Would be a classic Goodie move.

Just read Richmond were potentially into Allan at 6 also. Maybe the purpose of taking Tauru is so that one of the top mids actually drifts to Richmond resulting in them leaving Allan for us to take at 9?

We would have been completely bluffed if that’s the thinking.
