Imagine playing Lever, Turner and Tauru all in the same team trying to play the loose unaccountable 3rd tall flying for the same marks.

Would be a classic Goodie move.
Tauru would be forced into the forward line for some extra aerial contest and defence

I'd melt bigtime if we took Tauru over Draper, I just don't get what we don't like about Draper compared to Tauru.

Tauru has one amazing skill and needs a tonne of time and development, is his ceiling literally Jake Lever 2.0? - happily take him if he's there at 9, but 5 is a massive reach

Draper can play round 1, has all the traits that even Goodwin would value and more. Leadership, professionalism, speed, decent skills, works hard both ways - what's not to like?

Once again, we need Adelaide to save us from ourselves, hope it's not a repeat of 2017

Maybe that's why they don't want Draper.. he's too professional.

I don't really follow the draft, it's like something i never really paid close attention too so i have no idea who's good or bad ect. I've also just come to trust our drafting team mostly

Anyways i have however seen a little of Joe Berry play being from the same town, although not in the talent leagues. Anyways seems like a good country kid. Wouldn't mind seeing him get picked up at a decent club
I'm the same with the draft just been watching a few highlights here and there. What I do know is Tauru should not get picked at 5. Wouldn't be best available or a need imo, so would be a complete brain fart. Honestly think picking for needs is dumb in the top 20 you always go best available, so in that case I wouldn't go Tauru at 9, I just think there's better talent. I'm not anti Tauru but I just doesn't seem the right fit at all.

Our Casey forwardline

HF: Kentfield. Jefferson. Fullerton
FF: Tauru. Campbell. Sestan

Verall in the ruck.

Anyone else concerned by our clubs small forward stocks?

In a period where they are as important as ever

ANB = gone
Pickett = suspended and played in guts half the time
Spargo = leg cooked

Leaves us basically with Chandler to rule the roost, a bloke who wouldn’t get a run at most other clubs. Suprised we aren’t more into Berry or Reid or trying to slide back a few slots to snare a combo of Reid/Hannaford/Berry ect.

We are going to have the slowest most lumbering forward line in the league in round 1 next year. If Chandler gets injured or needs a spell we will be relying on blokes like Petty and Fritsch to apply that forward pressure.
100%! Some people are still wanting a key forward when I personally think our small forward stock are very very low.
Besides Kozzy I feel like we don’t have another. Chandler is playing a defensive roll and may play the ANB roll now.

I don’t see who comes in to take Kozzy’s spot whilst suspended. Do we go for a small at pick 79?

We'll grab Mentha as a Cat B rookie, but yeah, wouldn't be surprised if we take a punt on another small with the late pick.

A lot of talk here like things are a done deal. Would be really leak who we are going to draft to Twomey? I don't think JT is that moronic, more likely he leaked names he doesn't want to scare others off, or it's just complete speculation by Twomey.

Save the melts for when there's something to melt about.

Twomey always nails the top 10

I don't think we need to even use that pick do we? Upgrading rookies count towards the 3 draft pick minimum, and they've upgraded Melksham and McVee already.

When you look at Geelong/Hawks/Brisbane/GWS small forward stocks and see us relying on Chandler and a Cat B rookie you know we are in trouble.

Chandler would look a lot better playing for other teams, including Geelong.

He's not a worldbeater at all but he's got some talent. He's stuck doing the dirtiest job in a congested forward line with shit ball movement and consequently looks very average.

He's worth persisting with if we ever make it out of goodyball.

Twomey’s record is very good.

And no, Taylor wouldn’t leak to Twomey “We will select this player” but Twomey finds out which clubs have spoken to which players and that’s the main give away of what’s likely to happen. A club doesn’t do a heap of homework on a player they are uninterested in unless it’s a massive bluff - which may be the case with Tauru.

Twomey’s also very experienced, no club does anything without a bigger picture in mind. Like last year with Tholstrup. Pick swaps probably to make a play for Harley Reid. That failed, then trips to WA to meet Tholstrup and family. It’s not impossible to piece that stuff together.

This year given there are so many clubs with multiple picks in the top 11 selections there is more incentive for misdirection coming from clubs tying to spook other clubs into taking a certain player early.

It is 100% to Melbourne’s advantage to appear very interested in Tauru if they actually aren’t interested in him. If you can spook a club to take a player you don’t want - or two - before your pick it just increases your odds of getting who you actually want.
