Clearly he triggers you though lol...
Who does? This Sam Faff character?

Wouldn't say I'm 'triggered', just encouraging folks not to read too much into a Twitter troll's account.

Or do. Gotta do something to pass the time.

IF you need a forward Ruck and don’t want to trade for Lobb. Tim English is more a forward than a ruck and is a FA. He is serviceable in the ruck but should be playing forward.
A 'tall-forward/2nd Ruck', needs to be really good below his knees, with the agility of L Jackson.

Not those beanpole types. Only needs to be, or preferred to be around the 200cm+ range.
Getting over the 202cm area, seems to lose the agility to fight inside packs for the ground ball.
-------------------------

Tim English is what I would call a 1st ruck, because of body size and weight.
His agility isn't near where I would want, as that tall-forward/follower.

That deal is already up?

Probably a good time to give him another few years. Hasn’t been in great form but I still rate him as one of the better wingers going around.
Personally think he's having a pretty good year.

Yeh that’s fair. Not his best but we are playing through the other wing a lot. His last 6 weeks or so have been better than his start too.

Can’t see him being wrestled away by a big contract elsewhere though.
From Melbourne he's not going anywhere.

A short history of the last 10 premiership side’s ruckmen:

2014-15: Ben McEvoy/David Hale
2016: Tom Boyd/Jordan Roughead
2017, 19-20: Toby Nankervis/Shaun Grigg
2018: Scott Lycett/Nathan Vardy
2021: Max Gawn/Luke Jackson
2022: Rhys Stanley
2023: Darcy Cameron/Mason Cox

Gawn’s been great but decent ruckmen aren’t terribly hard to unearth.
2014-15: Ben McEvoy 200cms, David Hale 201cms,
2016: Tom Boyd 200cms, Jordan Roughead 200cms,
2017, 19-20: Toby Nankervis 199cms, Shaun Grigg 191cms
2018: Scott Lycett 203cms, Nathan Vardy 200cms,
2021: Max Gawn 209cms, Luke Jackson 200cms
2022: Rhys Stanley 200cms
2023: Darcy Cameron 204cms, Mason Cox 211cms,

We will probably go after a ruck and play him in the vfl all next year, and a backman and try turn him into another forward.

I reckon we need a couple of elite Mids from the draft; plus that tall follower.

And a specialist hff.
Like the Dons took Archie Perkins.
I was trying to be realistic as to what we might be lucky to actually pull off in the next 18 months.

Ideally we get a KPF, small forward and 2 x hard running mids with good foot skills.. but I can’t see that happening in 1 or 2 drafts unless we finish right down the bottom and are able to trade out Clarry for a solid pick.

Reckon a KPD is a much bigger priority than a KPF at this point tbh

May, McDonald, Lever, Tomlinson, Petty, Turner, Adams... reckon we've got plenty of KPD options.

May and McDonald have a year left at best though, Tomlinson a FA so probably goes, Petty could be gone too (and the club insists on playing him as a forward), Turner when he plays back is more of a third tall and Adams is still a bit of a project that's no guarantee to make it.

We might have numbers at the moment, but looking pretty grim once May and TMac are done.

No way - we have nobody to work with JVR and we can still hope that Pettys career hasn’t been ruined and he can be a good tall defender.
But at least we have JVR though. And some competent mid-sized forwards. TMac and May will be gone by the end of next year, and every chance Tomlinson and Petty will be too.

Cupboard is pretty bare. You don't win flags with a rubbish backline, whereas a few teams with very suspect forwards line can jag them (see us in 2021 and Collingwood last year for very recent examples).
