I love that we went the full 8 this year and still have two (likely) early first rounders next year. If we take just those two it's so many high picks over two years with almost all of them having the extra year on the list (rather than trading out into next year).

One year isn't enough obviously to know how many are going to make it but we have replaced all our retirees/delistings/trades with first rounders. Couple this with the fact that we often have a bit of luck with the rookie draft and I really think that we are looking at the fastest rebuild in history. It will take us a few years to get back up the ladder but once these guys start to come good, just look out.

May well have shaved a few years off projections and we might start looking attractive to free agents in the next 1-2 years.

Seeing them all at Punt Road on Monday I may just self combust

Hutchy and Pickers were massive supporters of what we did in trade and draft. They were both blown away. When they are on board then you know we did great.
Pickers yes, Hutchy not so much.

Now we have our key areas sorted out we can go back to taking handy peripheral players like Mansell, Pickett, Trezise or risky upside guys like Stack with our SSP & Rookie picks, most of which will be very early picks in the next few years. We will get a couple of decent players that way. We will be in the van to take any of our own VFL guys, think D'Ambrosio, Durham for eg.
Who got Sam Davidson?

Now that I’m back I have noticed there has been no fondling at AFL house over the no 1 draft pick ussualy they are gushing oil wells about this , what’s different this year?
