Need a seller to be a buyer. Can only see maybe Dogs with their pick 17 but that’ll be pushed out to maybe pick 20.

Can't get Dogs pick back ourselves as it was our pick in the first place. May need GC to do 4 for 10 and 17. Then get 17 from GC I think.

Possibly 21 or 22. Slim possibility even 23.

The McKay compensation pick.

The 3 Suns academy kids.

The Bulldogs father son key forward.

And the Hawks father son key defender.

Same players still available anyway.
So pick 17 is really still pick 17 in the open draft.
Maybe 18 with the McKay compo pick.

You are correct.

What I was thinking in my head, and didn't articulate, is that when people look at some of the various draft ranking lists, instead of looking at the kid at 26 (where our pick currently sits), look at the kids 30+, as that's where our pick likely falls, and the rankings include the academy and father son kids.

We simply must draft Tew Jiath. What a freakish prospect. His past couple games in the Coates Talent League have been super impressive. If drafted into the right club who develop him properly he’ll turn into a star. Fills a need and could easily blossom into a gun third tall alongside our other young guns in Starcevich, Payne, Wilmot and Kiddy. Get him in!

Looks like the first part of the puzzle is coming together nicely. 4 for 10 and 17 gives +400 points for Suns.

Let's say Suns open up about 6 or 7 spots in the list - they'll be able to take 10,17,28,31,42,47,56 to draft. Gives them 4608 points.

We could do a deal giving our future first for their future second/third as well as a live trade for that pick 10 for our 26,45,55,61.

Our future first would be about the same value as our current first round pick that GC would end up with.

And GC’s future second round pick would be about the same value as our current second round pick.

I reckon they would be the main picks involved in any potential trade with GC.

10 seems a bit of a pipe dream.

Also wouldn’t leave Bulldogs with much of a draft hand to trade for Lohmann either, seeing as the second round pick they hold is tied to us.

WHOA, that does not seem possible mpal6. GC would have to (delist) make space for 10 spots (17,28,31,42,47,56, 26,45,55,61). That is one hell of a clear-out.

You can only take as many selections to the draft as you have spots.

yeah that's why I suggested we make the deal to do a "live trade" for 10.

Once the draft starts, the cap around "selections to list spots" goes away. Gold Coast can collect as many picks as they want similar to what we did for Ashcroft and Fletcher.

I think Dogs will try to rob us as a payback for Dunkley deal. Lohmann for a third or something like that.

I am hoping we entice Gold Coast for 10 by offloading all junk picks in live trade along with our future first. They can give us 10 and I suspect it will be a future third potentially. I don't feel 17 gives that much of a value for a future first and all our current picks, 10 looks like a decent pick to aim for.

Lohmann hurt his shoulder yesterday.
Not sure how bad it was. Hopefully he is okay.
However, the Dogs might change their mind depending on the injury result.

I expect multiple clubs will be taking extra picks to the draft, to then trade up for a single higher pick. And then using the extra list spots to upgrade rookies, and sign players during the SSP period.

I don’t know if we actually have the picks/points to entice GC in to such a trade.

From GC’s perspective, they need to still make a profit in points on any such trade for pick 10.

Breaking even on points and gaining a future draft asset might not be the type of trade the Suns are looking for.

Fair chance GC need 5000+ points, if Walter is bid at 2, Reid at 10 and Rogers at 15.

So they’re going to want to make at least a 200 point profit any trades of 10 and 18, and maybe 100 point profits on any picks they have in the 200’s.

If the club turns Mcluggage into a full time mid next year I think we need to draft a winger as a priority with our 1st pick there's still a lot of question marks with our back up wingers.

Personally feel that we have more pressing needs such as KPDs and KPFs. We do have some players who can go through the wings such as Berry, Fletcher, Sharp and even Ah Chee.
