I would suggest we came out well ahead on the trades.

We lost our future 2nd. That's most likely 33-36.
We got back West Coast 3rd (37-40), Gold Coast (43-47), Bulldogs (43-47).

I we lose 36 and gain 39, 43, 46... 2nds vs 3rds, but a late 2nd and an early third aren't much off.

Assuming Annable isn't the first player bid on (Uwland looks odds on to be first) those picks will come in a few spots as well you'd think.

I’m so confused by the matching/bidding.

So Geelong picked Ty, and we matched?
Can multiple teams match?

I am so confused 🥲.
Gallop is a Lions Academy player. Only we can match.

They bid on Gallop.
We traded out our next 3 picks for future 3rds.
Then we matched with later picks and get Gallop.

Then Geelong get to pick again (because they never got a player)
Geelong bid on a Carlton Father/Son. Carlton get to bid, etc etc

for future picks to have value for us - does it mean we have to delist a heap of blokes next year? I assume there are many ways we can use these picks before we get to that point though. Just don't see much value in them tbh after bids they'd be like pick 60s. But good to have I guess.
Annabel is probably one of the first 3 academy kids bid on next year. Doubt our picks move back much, if at all. Especially if the first kid/s bid on are GC academy boys.

Tom Hawkins just 1cm taller.
Just add lots of oil to Ty and we are set

Thank you!

Do you have to match with your best currency picks? i.e - if you have 45, 55, 63 you have to use 45 even if 55 and 63 would be worth the points required?

Ty is from our academy. Clubs can only match players who nominate to go as a father-son or academy selection for their own club.

…and some handy trade currency if needed, or ability to facilitate other clubs trades and improve our hand. Can almost guarantee we won’t get to 2025 draft still holding those picks!

Is the pick from West Coast confirmed as their future 3rd round pick, or is it Hawthorns?

Yep, from best to worst

We still have 59. Probably not going to be able to trade that out, but even if we do, it'll be for a packet of chips... salt and vinegar if we push really hard.

Realistically, more likely to Pass. Draft done.

Am I crazy or is a future 4 actually kind of useful for us? Won't have points value so doesn't get wiped in a bid... If we got super lucky it might end up in the late 40s which is usable.

You use your next picks. You can't keep your earlier and use your later.

BUT... if you're prepared (most clubs are), you can trade your earlier picks out (even after the bid), which then means that your first available picks when you hit the "match" button are later ones anyway.
