Latin would make it pretty hard on the dumb Irish to believe in the stories.
I’m testing my memory here but I think it would be panes et pisces. Both 3rd declension masculine and both definitely plural. When referring to the miracle itself the genitive would be used obviously but both still in the plural. i.e panum et piscium. Here endeth the lesson.

True, “debt” is from the Latin root which has a pronounced “b” in it, but it had lost the “b” in its pronunciation by the time we got to Middle English. The modus operandi was to take the spelling back to its Latin roots, which was a form of snobbery.

The raison d’être for us using French terms in the English language is to ooze snobbery.
Mais non! There are many French terms for which there is no direct equivalent in English.
Reconnaissance, espionage and lieutenant being three examples.

I just want to hand the Dees their second-worst loss under Simon Goodwin. Too much to ask of Reef?

Beef - Cows
Mutton - sheep
Chicken - chickens
Pork - pigs
Fish - Fishes

Is it something to do with if you’re referring to the meat or the animals?
She fishes so often that she’s a natural at casting a line.

Yes. Matthew, or whoever wrote the scripture, would have pluralised it however it was pluralised in that language - irrelevant to what the plural was in earlier English. When it was translated into the early English bibles it was 'fishes' or something similar (probably an extra vowel). Other early English texts use fishes too. It was most likely standard at the time.
It's all Greek to me

Carmichael medical retirement appears more likely by the week. They said a lot by saying what was effectively fluff.

Elliott's big test is running. Still not entirely convinced.
