Honestly, give The Merryman whatever he wants and never let him leave.
Hard to believe the contrast with Weber isn’t it!
I used to just get dejected listening to Weber and his TBCs. He succeeded in putting massive muscle on Fyfe but stuffed up a heap of other players.

That talk about Cox and how bad his injury was makes me think we won't see him until closer to August.
Much as we all love big Coxy (had to be a bit careful there) he does have a tendency to be quite casual and at times even slow. I wouldnt want an unfit Cox replacing a full speed Draper so I would fully expect him to have a run at Peel on limited minutes and to prove he was up to speed.
Especially if we win on the weekend against the Dogs and Drapes holds his own again - then bring him back via the Magoos.
The way he did that hammy, at full speed, full stretch then the push in the back. Just want to be sure he can build back at his own pace.

ROUND 14 INJURY LIST
Ollie Murphy (hip) – test
Ethan Stanley (ankle) - test
Matt Taberner (concussion)- test
Brennan Cox (hamstring) – 1 week
Nathan O’Driscoll (knee) - 5-6 weeks
Oscar McDonald (knee) - 9-11 weeks
Josh Corbett (hip) - season
Sebit Kuek (knee) - season

Lots of positive progress in that list update, but gee whillickers poor old NOD and Oscar are both a bit worrying.
Just can't see much progress for either of them, and both are having other players overtake them while they are out of action...

Cox back into the side would firmly put us up as the best defence in the competition in my opinion.
As good as Draper has been for a defender of his development status, he has been exploited for strength and experience at critical times this year, where as there's no way they'd be doing that to Cox. Cox in place of Draper wins us both the Carlton and Port games this year I reckon.

Yeah I don’t wanna mess around with it. As soon as Cox is fit he’s in.

If you leave aside the last game against Melbourne where the defence was under minimal pressure relatively speaking, Draper has declined in performance as the season has progressed, particularly over the last month before the Dees game.

That’s perfectly understandable for a young KPP thrown in the deep end. The reality is he was shown up again at Collingwood in particular as being a little off the pace of the very top sides.
He’s had a great run and looks a fine long term prospect, but right now, Cox is a much better, more experienced player once he gets a game or two under his belt and it’s a big upgrade for us to bring him in instead of Draper as we push hard for a strong finals campaign later this year.
We are upgrading a key position rookie with an AA squad level player.
Drapers time will come in the future no doubt.

All good points but Draper is still doing a good job in a defence that is functioning very well. This gives us the luxury of being very careful with Cox so that we have the best chance of him being 100% for the finals. His injury history is one that indicates he is a player who needs to be carefully managed. I'm fine with Cox buiding up over 3 games in the WAFL which still gives him 7 AFL HnA games before the business end.

It's a good idea to ease Cox in slowly.

(These jokes will always be funny)
hehehehe. Agreed, they need to ease the Big Cox in slowly. Take their time, not go hammer and tongues. We don't want to pop anything too early

A) We tried that in Round 1
B) Who are you dropping?

I was making a filthy joke.

And if we want three tall forwards and Jackson in the middle that's how, but I think Draper loses his place the moment Cox is half fit. Cox's marking is far superior

Dabbling Cox in the forward area keeps him practiced at it and it's not too much of a stretch to fit him in forwards should Darcy or Jackson go down. Drake is a perfect fit straight down back if that's the case.

Curtains has been good, but Cox is clearly an upgrade when he’s ready.

Cox should be ready for managed minutes next week, more/full game the following and then at best he’s in the week after imo - so another 3 afl games before he’s back; round 17 at home v the tigers is my guess.
