Kane's going to bang on about the Darcy contract for the next 6 years.

He hates long contracts so whenever Darcy goes down it will be a told you so moment for Kane.
Find this an odd argument. Isn’t having two first class ruckman contracted long term exactly the reason why we are fine ? Ie If we traded Darcy and Jackson went down we would have to play Reidy/Nobel? It’s an odd argument.

* me an Achilles for Wagner would be a potential career ender given his contract status. Fingers crossed that’s not the case.
Worst injury in footy an Achilles tendon, even worse than an ACL 😔

It just feels like a rotten luck season from an injury POV already

Wagner has shown enough that I think we would give him another year.

I really don’t think we have that many injuries compared to some other teams tbh, especially if take into consideration the majority of ours are probably back within a month.

Got to say Wagner is a blow when Chapman is already out. Losing two players that can play a similar role really does test the depth a bit.

Whilst I agree I don’t think many of the OOC players we have actually need to do all that much to get another year.

He’s probably competing with Hughes for a spot on our 2025 list tbh and this injury has good as assured Hughes is in the team until Heath Chapman is available. If there’s any other injuries to HBFs before Chapman returns Hughes could easily be in the side most of the season.

Let’s wait on the diagnosis. Other reports said nasty ankle injury. He seemed to be walking off with the aid of a couple of trainers. If he ruptured the Achilles I can’t imagine anything other than stretcher to be honest.
Steve Allen was incorrect. It’s a calf injury freo have confirmed not an Achilles. That’s a relief anyway. Still not ideal but he should get back at some point this season.

Good to hear. If he tore Achilles I couldn’t imagine anyone getting up and walking off with some assistance. Let’s hope it is more grade 1 than 2 or 3. Still he was troubled by calf over pre-season so that is a set back.

Where did Freo confirm this?

Just a question - is anyone concerned that LJ has now had 3 concussions within the last 12 months? I don't know if he had any at Melbourne earlier in his career? For me it's a concern as 2 of them have been "delayed". I seriously hope this isn't going to become an issue for him as his career progresses.

Yes concerned. Cannot afford to lose him, he's basically an emerging quarterback
