Will be very surprised if Wilmot gives up #44.Levi Ashcroft obviously takes number 10. Do we think there’s anyone like Fletcher who will look to take 3? Wilmot?
What do the others take? Marshall for 20 in Black’s old number? Day for 14 and Gallop for 17?
Yeah he’s won a premiership with that numberWill be very surprised if Wilmot gives up #44.
I wasn't thinking about that.Yeah he’s won a premiership with that number
Would be weird if he did considering that's his Dad's number from when he played with Collingwood. Will be very surprised if Wilmot gives up #44.
Speaking of Darcy - how good has he become since his debut in a cut-throat final. So courageous and reliable, week in, week out. Full credit to our recruiting team.Would be weird if he did considering that's his Dad's number from when he played with Collingwood.

We’re due for a good number 20

It indicates we had no draft capital to pry someone out and there were no attractive FAs available. We may have to do the same thing next year but I'd expect our entire list focus for the next 12 months is going to be centered around a Joe replacement and potentially a new ruck.
I actually think we would already have Fogarty on our list had his form not taken off overnight in 2023. Adelaide has put a lot of work into him to I think convince him to stay - especially around leadership roles etc.

Rowell is just that he's putting off contract talks to next year to see if Gold Coast doesn't fade out in the 2nd half of the year like normal. The Allen bit is below:If you be a dear & cut & past that article content, that'd be super.
Eagles star forward Allen and West Coast will recommence contract talks now that the trade and draft period is over.
But at this stage their offer is not longer than five seasons even though Allen is only 25 years old.
Allen would like a six or seven-year contract as a star free agent after Adelaide’s Darcy Fogarty signed a six-yearpre-free agent deal and Richmond’s Noah Balta was locked in for seven more seasons after giving away his free agency rights.
Allen is back in training after playing the last 10 games after a 14-week spell out with a knee injury and while he will have to manage that knee for the rest of his career is confident he can play well into his 30s.
But at this stage West Coast is still cautious on the kind of long-term deals that saw them lock in Andrew Gaff for six seasons as he played only five games in his final year.
The club was able to extricate itself from the last year of Jack Darling’s long-term deal by trading him to North Melbourne for a late pick.
But the Eagles signed Nic Naitanui for two more years despite knee issues in 2022 and he did not play another game, retiring halfway through the contract.
So West Coast will have to weigh rival interest and continue negotiations with Allen’s management, aware it could open them up to him leaving for a club prepared to risk his injury history with a long-term deal.

Obviously it would fantastic if it turns out Allen is the one we have locked in.It begins....
Whose deal would cost less year to year, Allen or Naughton?
Just realised the Bulldogs also drafted Jordan Croft as a tall forward. So they have Naughton, Ugle-Hagan, Darcy and Croft whose best position Is KPF. Surely that's too many, and Naughton is probably the odd man out given he isn't an academy or F/S player. He'd also be able to slot in our team straight away without needing more time to develop.
$ doesn't concern me - what are we trading for Naughton though? I know from next year you can do two years of future trading, but I think that will just have an inflationary effect on trade prices.
I figure the ideal time to shake someone loose from the Bulldogs is when their young stars come up for new contracts. Darcy is OOC at the end of next year and Jamarra is OOC the year after. If they both get fat contracts then Naughton might become a salary dump and come relatively cheap.$ doesn't concern me - what are we trading for Naughton though?
