I dont watch the Lions too much, so I was wondering if the ex Lions boys at the Crows in Hinge and Keays would get a spot in the current Lions team with how they have stepped up at Adelaide since joining?

Keays has been a great pick up for and has turned into a reliable goal kicking forward, and Hinge has been excellent at half back.

Brisbane let these guys go for nothing, and still won a premiership, so says alot about the depth of your squad.

Hinge could possibly be in the team at Half back, not many here wanted him to leave and he was offered a contract at the Lions.
But Keays would still be 24-30 on the list where he was when he left.

We shouldn’t have let Keays go

Ben Keays = Dev Robertson.

Keays would be half forward depth, and wouldn't get a look in, in the midfield.

Hinge would be in a head to head battle with Connor McKenna to be our 23rd man.

Hinge may have been the one in line to replace Coleman last year instead of Zorko.

Come on Britzoon. Keays shared Adelaide's b/f last year. Could Dev have done that ?

Ben is a champion and what a bonus it would be to have him in the wet tonight.

He isn't blessed with speed or silky skills, but he always gives 100%, has a tank on him and out runs his opponent, and then always seems to be able to find the goals.
I really want to see both Fog and Thilthorpe kick a huge bag but he always bobs up and gets them.

He has been a really good get for us, and you know what you are going to get every week. He is the type of player the coaches love.

I think the key point is that he wouldn’t have developed to that if he’d stayed with us.

It’s totally to his credit that he found a second home and thrived, but he definitely wasn’t getting the run in the senior team with us that he had with the crowd in 2020-2022.

He’d easily be good enough go to get a game now but hard to see how he’d have had the chance to develop.

True. He came into our side and was a need for us. That gave him time to develop his game.

It’s almost like Crimson Tide for me. You’re both right.

Keays is clearly good enough to be a regular AFL player, and a good one at that. However, I can’t see him getting a game over anyone in our forward or mid rotation which is where he has demonstrated his ability.

A real win win for the Crows and Ben, like it was for Craig Bolton all those years ago at the Swans (though I do wish he stayed).

And like when Buckley went to Collingwood all those years ago. A real win for everyone that matters:
  • We won a three peat and Collingwood won nothing
  • Buckley is now one of the best talking heads in the media who clearly has a soft spot for the Lions
