The club preferred an injured Doedee over Worrell and the club didn’t believe Worrell and Doedee could play together, I know this as fact. They then finally rest Doedee, Worrell excels, Doedee returns and they play together.

Was Nankervis ready round 1 this year? Why didn’t he play?

Are you also suggesting the club never makes a mistake at selection and they time the development of all players perfectly?
Frampton over Thilthorpe lol.

Your twisted logic says ....if Worrell comes in at R15 and plays well .....then if he had come in R2, he would have also played well, and you the supporter were right and the coaches wrong

Now, Worrell himself previously commented ....he wasn't ready yet .....even after he debuted, and again at the beginning of this year

Professionalism and preparation wasn't where it needed to be .....so unless you're going to training, you're simply another front bar commentator

Over all the years of watching footy .....I've never encountered a good player to never get a league opportunity ....never
And how many players have we delisted, who have been picked up by other Clubs, and had great careers ?.....excluding players wanting extended contractual arrangements ?

Cream rises to the top ....clubs want to get games into good players quickly (Curtin) .....how long did Max have to dwell in the SANFL? ....Soligo, Pedlar, Thilthorpe

How many times has Gollant been tried now, after shining in the SANFL ......I said a year ago, his hands were cement at AFL level .....same as Ned fumbling

You’re the sort of unserious nuffie who would’ve been arguing that after a hundred games, that Michael Tuck bloke just wasn’t up to it

Do we actually have a real problem with on field leadership that is holding us back? Hence the massive leadership group, heavily relying on a cooked Smith, potentially trying to recruit veterans, struggling to see out close games…

Having players in our bloated leadership group who are not necessarily best 22 does cause us a selection dilemma...

Absolutely 💯 that’s why we win so many close games due to our elite leadership and experience

I've figured it out folks.

All this recent talk of players we are into is just a genius masterstroke decoy smokescreen move by Nicks and Reid.

We are going to make a huge secret play for none other than Caleb Daniel.

Nicks desperate to get another player of this size into our team, you know it :$

Does anyone know if there are terms to players contracts? More specifically, if a player is fit, they are to play at least a certain number of AFL games a season.

I've wondered this over the past few years with team selection looking like one step forward then two steps back.

I come in peace guys to talk about the possible Yeo trade/ offer.

What are your honest opinions on this? From my own perspective - a multi-million dollar contract for a bloke in his 30s with pretty extensive groin injuries is a little bit silly...

I get the feeling that his acquisition wouldnt relate to a flag push; is the intention to train your next generation of mids?

Gives me the same vibes as our apparent interest in Dangerfield!

You say stuff like this but Worrell sits in our reserves then is suddenly in, only when Doedee gets injured

When left to our own player judgement we didn't regard him as best 22 worthy

But lo and behold, he is

We're poor judges and it's one of the reasons for our continuing finals drought

There have been players we have fielded at senior level that are worse then Harrison Wigg would have been, but we'll never know that.

I doubt it has any legitimacy. Screams of 'Adelaide have cap space and Yeo wants more money/an extra year'.

If it does, I'm thinking it's a desperate effort to hit the salary floor (which would be why nearly half the money gets paid in the first year).

Maybe there's also a belief that Burgess can get his body right and we can get three full, high quality seasons out of him, but I can't see that happening.

Thanks for stopping by.

Personally, I think this is evidence of a few things:

1. We've missed out on our primary targets (e.g. Hayward) and are moving onto secondary/tertiary targets. There's a bit of uncertainty about this because there are so many names flying around, and fuzzy links with us (e.g. are we really into Hugh McCluggage?). The club's been quite open about being more aggressive in acquiring players through trades/free agency. I don't love that strategy, but it is what it is.

2. We're having some issues hitting the salary cap floor this year. This is a bit of a bugbear of mine, I think the floor should be lowered. But this would explain the massively front-loaded offer to Yeo.

3. We're confident in the ability of Darren Burgess to rehabilitate Yeo and get him back to something like full fitness.

4. Yeo is pretty much exactly the archetype of midfielder we're after and we sense some "Moneyball" potential if we can get his body right.

5. We're thinking about how to bridge the gap between Crouch/Laird and the next generation of mids, which could include Charlie Edwards, Dan Curtin, plus any guys we draft in the next year or two.

Note this is all fairly speculative – I'm just a guy on the internet!

5. Charlie Edwards gives me Elliott Yeo vibes.
So you might be right in this.
