I got 9.

I was wrong on the (SPOILER ALERT) player with the most 40 plus possessions, and also the number of AFL debutants but FMD, there's no right or wrong answer to the question about whether it would be a culinary crime if Luke Jackson adds chicken salt seasoning to scrambled eggs.

I was surprised to read on a sports media a comment on the top ten rucks in the AFL, to see Luke Jacksons name among them.
I am not sure I would have him mentioned before a few others.
I love Jackos game, but I am not sure his ruck work is that good.
Maybe against other leapers, he does pretty well, but the big bulky guys just maul him in games.

Anyone that thinks he's in the top ten rucks in the league hasn't watched him play in the ruck against actual rucks IMO.

Is he in the top ten players that sometimes spend time in the ruck? At his best he possibly is but that's an entirely different question.

It would be the follow up at ground level and clearance possessions after the ruck contest where Jackson would be rated higher than most of the other rucks in the AFL.

I think he holds most value/point of difference because of this but mainly when taking advantage of other second rucks who are for most teams a KPF that’s kind of tall but doesn’t really offer much in the ruck.

He’s also pretty effective as a forward going at nearly a goal a game when Darcy is in the side - that drops to nearly zero when Darcy is out. Imagine if he could hold a few more marks.

It depends on the game. Sometimes it's the quality of his clearances rather than the number. The St Kilda vs Fremantle game he and Marshall went head to head and had the same hitouts, roughly the same possessions - Jackson mid 20's vs 31 for Marshall and Marshall's were mostly kicks and a lot from link up play, where Jackson's possessions were mostly handballs, but he was clearly the more influential player for the umpires.

When Jackson was lead ruck in the first 5 games Rds 2-6, if you look at the ruck hit outs in those games he loses them but he dominates in possessions. Then there's Rds 10-11 - 10 vs Grundy, 11 is prev mentioned vs St Kilda and Rd 19 against Hawthorn.

Even against Hawthorn, he played well and it was really only the last quarter that Meek got on top, so I think the issue is that against stronger bodies he can eventually be worn down over a game, and given the good start to the year, worn down over a season (eg. Rd 23 vs Geelong) if he is the lead ruck. But we've found out in the last week or so that there was an unusual injury he was dealing with which would have affected him in the latter half of the year.

The other games to look at where he maybe did more than half of the rucking were the 2 games vs Richmond where Darcy was subbed on the first time and subbed off the 2nd time. +(EDIT: Darcy was subbed off both times vs Richmond. I was looking at Fyfe's arrow on in the first game. There was also a few games from when Darcy returned the first time in the Rd 7 Derby where he was being eased into the main role in terms of minutes played and he is playing 70% game time compared to 80%+ before the 2nd sidelined with injury break, and Jackson did more than a 2nd ruck would).

Hey is there any reason we cant do some guerilla gardening and bomb that yellow hillside at Cockburn with native flower seed? View attachment 2185062

Love it.

I’d pay for some of the seeds, over in nsw though so can’t do it myself.

Some of those beachy succulents wouldn’t hurt - Karkalla? Not sure how they go from seed.

Here’s the link to the members meeting recording. My favorite stat was that Freo had the fourth highest attendance behind the Pies, Blues, and Bombers and, as Garlick points out, those teams have a huge advantage by playing each other in Melbourne where opposing team’s fans can come easily. Also, we had 79% members attendance rate at games, which was highest in the competition. Sorry, for brining that number down, but it’s a long drive from Chicago to Perth. 😝😝 Maybe some day…. Well done to the Purple Army for showing up each week. I predict 2025 will be even better!
