Johnson is so important to our future success. Fyfe's big body is what protected our mids over the years but also was used to win clearances. When Fyfe retires we are going to miss his presence. I love that Johnson is working on his speed but if he wants to take Fyfe's spot he needs to work on his clearance numbers which were low for the 2024 season.
Erasmus is the clearance option. Johnson more like Mundy. Extract and burst out of congestion. Erasmus flick out quick handball.

What I liked towards the back end of the year (certainly not all the close losses) was the midfielders developing (ie Serong and Young) developing their forward craft. Young can take a good mark and Serong is quite crafty around goals. Brayshaw can rotate High half forward and wing. Rotations are the key.

With Fyfe I can see a regular sub role. The speed of the game is starting to catch him out. Injecting him into the middle as a bull and point of difference could be a quite an attacking move.

Fyfe seemed to struggle as games wore on and season wore on.

Versatility around our midfield group is the key.

Murphy and Cooper I see for the time being as high half forward options. Both ooze class. Cooper needs to get his hands on the pill more at WAFL level but when he does something good always happens. Murphy looks very creative and able to find space deliver nicely to the leading full forwards which will hopefully be Jackson and Amiss (Treacy CHF).

We already have a Murphy on the list so maybe better to call him Reid, otherwise I agree 😂

Mmm yum yum can wait to pay absolute full tote for Robinson when the campaigners at the AFL change the rules again
I'm fearful of this. The changes made aren't enough and until it benefits us it only benefits our opposition hindering is. If we pay fair price but 5-6 other clubs get guns for peanuts we're behind the eightball.

We're semi likely clubs like Essendon, Gold Coast, St Kilda, Carlton and Western Bulldogs are incompetent enough that it is an insignificant enough advantage that we can make up for it by competent recruitment and hard work work. Brisbane, Sydney and GWS on the other hand...

Not a fan of bringing attention to trolls on X. That place is the biggest cesspit on the internet these days. Unmoderated and more than half the accounts are bots that are focussed on 'user engagement' which basically means generating outrage for clicks.

If I was trans, X is the last place on the internet I would visit (except for the Truth Social which is X lite). I find it unusual that the AFL and its clubs still use it considering the social warriors that they are.

I remember yonks ago in the early 00s there was a back page article over east about the unfit young docker trio of Matthew Pavlich, Leigh Brown and Paul Haselby and how they werent in football shape. They would all go on to play 200 games+ and arguably was the kick in the butt that they needed. Though probably a bit harsh on pav as he wasn't unfit.

Stephen May got heaps of criticism for being out of shape one off-season before melbournes flag and his period of dominance.

If you want to be a professional athlete this sort of criticism is part of the job. Its not an off limit, unrelated, topic like family, sexuality, religion etc

Danielle has the right idea shining a light on the online abuse of players and how unnecessary and damaging it is. However, the execution is just off. I have no doubt those troll accounts would be loving the media attention: good or bad, they don't care. Naming them and quoting them just gets them more clicks unfortunately and the better thing would've been to call them out without referencing them directly.

It is a genuine issue I'm glad is being brought up though. It's something I certainly like to remember before I post anything too negative about any of our players. Getting personal and making these sorts of public attacks on players is completely uncalled for and should have larger consequences.

Supporters and people in general should be getting behind them, getting excited to see Darcy back on the park and destroying opposition ruckman. Not taking cheap pot shots at their own players.

Big difference between a coach at the club or a well versed journo giving a player a clip and thousands of morons blasting death threats and abuse at players.

Criticism is part of the job but not all criticism is the same. More often than not fan criticism turns into abuse.

The huge problem with articles like this is the prominence it gives to dumb campaigners' comments. more than likely they love the exposure and it will encourage them to do more and worse.

It also completely distorts the impression of the general public. Maybe only 2-3% would agree with these views and the way that they have been expressed. But it looks and feels like they have a substantial backing.

All up very unhelpful. Disappointing from Dani, I usually like her general footy writing.

Just flicking through Foxtel and saw they were showing the 2013 QF against Geebung on their dung heap so of course watched the last quarter again.

Thought I would share the majestic loping goal of SHILL.

It never gets old!

One of those moments where I recon everyone on here would remember exactly where they were
