Hey remember when the club randomly signed finbarr and I and probably others up as 'members' despite us not signing up to be a member, attending any games or giving them any money?

This morning I got a email saying my membership is ready for renewal in 2025 and sending me an invoice for $150. What a ****ing gross organisation we are off the field these days.

You all realise that it's memberships nation wide, right? Not just SA where home games are played.

If there's roughly 40k to 50k just in SA and roughly 10k Vic, 5k wa, 5k nsw, 5k qld and even some up in NT then that's probably how it's 70k members.

Quite a lot of members up In QLD so there's definitely a lot In other states. This would clearly explain why it may not appear that way if home games aren't always sell outs.

They went a step further. I received my "renewal" notice (for the membership i do not have) in the letterbox today. Seems like they want to get in early just in case the season goes t!ts up tonight.

78% of Port members fans in SA and 12% in Qld, according Roy Morgan research that the club uses in its marketing to corporates.

Only 3% live in Victoria and 4% in NSW/ACt and 1% in each of the other 3 jurisdictions. The memberships numbers would be similar sort of distribution, with a skewing in Victoria, as they have game access to about 5 or 6 Port games a year.

PSA: Can confirm what a poster mentioned a little while ago, the cost of the Kayo Digital membership has risen from $250 to $350 for 2025. Still cheaper than buying Kayo standalone, but only just. I assume they were too popular for Rupert's liking...
I think Rupert and his buddies worked out they were selling Kayo too cheaply.

Plus I'm sure its tied up with the new 2025-2031 TV deal. Foxtel pay 15% more in 2025 over 2024 rights annual fee to the AFL, and then its compounded by approx 4.6% each year after 2025 until 2031.

Expect another price increase in February next year.

Note: Kayo Basic increased from $30 per month to $35 per month from 20 February 2024. For more information about this change, click here.

66,015 - New Port Membership Record

"The primary difference between Port Adelaide’s official club member number, and the AFL audited number, is the allocation of the Adelaide Oval stadium members who have access to all the Port Adelaide games, with Port Adelaide allocated 2,708 (34%) of the 8,000 members."

How are we in 2024 and the stadium split is still 66/34?

I’ve still never been given an answer to the question of which club does the Hawthorn supporting stadium member that I know get allocated to?

They are adamant that they have never been asked the question of who they support.

Any stadium members here?

Possible Explanation
Note primary difference meaning there are other factors that caused the difference of 5,292 (71,307-66,015) figure.

So 5292- 2708 (Adelaide stadium members) = 2,584 members were randomly given free memberships through various means from kids community events to previous members who didn't renew their membership for 2024 could be possibilites

You dont understand how the AO Football members allocation works.

There are 8000 AO Football Members.

If 34% = 2,708 are allocated to Port then 5,292 are not.

71,307 - 5,292 = 66, 015.

Edit 2708/8000 = 33.85%

So they've been making this adjustment for over a decade and the club still insists in counting 8,000 AO members that will be discounted to 2,708 later? What's the point?

Marketing.

We have 71,000 passionate members sound better than 66,000.

It's BS, but we have a professional bullshitter as Prez and a CEO who one of his major KPI is membership figures and AFL executives who love positive, positive news and the bigger the better mentality.
