Sooner or later you have to say that we are on our way and we don't care about high draft picks. If Whitlock turns out to be a gun and they finish 12th it's in theory pick 6 for a gun forward and pick 19.

Could backfire but to me it says "we're no longer a basket case"

North are primed to climb next year, and have traded accordingly, Richmond won't.

Probably only sliding back 12-16 picks next year, and Whitlock has slid a fair way tonight.

Another thing to keep in mind is North are going to get pillaged by Tassie and will have a few picks to play with after 2025.

TBH if they rate him more highly than Shanahan then I think it’s a good trade.
If it was for pick 10 and Richmond’s future second and they took Shanahan I don’t think people would think it’s a bad move so from where I sit they done the right thing.
