I like how the argument has turned from “who deserves a shot at the National title” to “who deserves a shot at being in the playoffs”.

Stevie Wonder could see that by expanding the playoffs, it was just to make more money, not to give smaller teams a shot at the title.

I wonder if we introduce playoffs to decide the playoff places?

The old system was ****ed.

What would go a long way to fixing college football is a 16 team playoff and all 10 conference champions have access.

It was never about wins, when brand names are hanging around and humans making the decisions. and its not about fair because if it was it would be the 10 conference champions and a couple of wild cards. Every confrence champ should be given the bye or host 1st round. the fact 2 of the Big12/MW/ACC champs will likely be on the road to multi loss non champ teams with some that didnt even play this weekend.

dropping FSU out last year proved that [and then everyone points to the Orange bowl while ignoring most starters and 2nd string players sat out in protest]

If Clemson beat SMU just watch them try and push SMU out and keep Alabama in.
Eye test doesnt matter when Penn St is ranked over Notre Dame. or H2H doest matter when UNLV is over Syracuse even with Syracuse having a win over them in Vegas.

As much as people hated the BCS at least there was less bias in it.

That or copy the FCS with 10AQ and 14 at large. even then there would be a debate over the 24th and 25th ranked teams

Honestly dumbfounded as to why Travis Hunter is in the running for the Heisman.

Not even the most influential player on his own team.

It'd be like voting Owen Marecic over Andrew Luck in 2010 (Though, at least 3 people were stupid enough to that year)

Jeanty is the best player in the country.

And Ward is the second best.

I can see arguments for Sanders and Gabriel.

If anyone outside of those 4 receive a 1st round vote, they don't deserve to have a vote. Though, this is a country that voted in Trump......Twice. Maybe democracy should just be banned in America, it sure as hell doesnt work there.

Hey now. Marecic was a good 2 way player and even scored a TD on back to back plays, first as a Full back then a pick 6 as LB.

But Hunter isn't the best WR or CB. If he wins it will be the death of the Heisman and will now be won on who has the better media and PR campaign. Won't be won on field.

it will be way worse then McCaffrey being robbed because Henry was still a great player

How was the old system …?

By having all 10 conference champions, is just saying let’s allow for more participation awards.

You also have more chance of the big 2 conferences breaking away since they don’t really exist to prop up the MAC and conference USA.

The old system was ****ed because it lead to the established blue bloods being able to use it as an exclusive club to entice the best recruits to their school for the opportunity of success which wouldn't be available elsewhere.

The schools that could manage to knock on the door, like Washington, Cincinnati, TCU - They all got smashed in there and couldn't run it.

By opening up, can schools like Ohio State still promise exclusive access to the playoff? Well, yes still, but it wont resonate as much as a school like Colorado can now say, win this conference and you're in. It's no longer sheer dumb luck. It helps other schools recruit at a higher talent and it spreads the competition making college football better like the good old days of the pre plus one system.

And ensuring that the SBC or MAC Champion is in, helps the smaller schools even more on recruiting. Sure, most teams are gonna lose, we see that in FCS, Big Sky and MVFC schools win quite a bit. But that access makes the season better with greater parity as kids might go to Miami (Oh) to start for 4 years rather than head to Ohio State and sit for 3, and you're not going to be sitting there going, 'the natty is just gonna be between Michigan/Ohio State/Alabama/Clemson/Georgia.'

This plus NIL has created a lot more parity at the pointy end. This season has been great for upsets

Fine let the greed 2 f**k off, better now then in 10 years. Even then they will complain about having to prop up Rutgers or Vanderbilt. They only care about money, Thats the only reason Stanford isnt in the Big10 because the schools votes yes but Fox had veto power since they pay the bills.

But also the SEC and Big10 are the only reason why CFB is in the mess its in right now with the power imbalance and conferences dead or struggling to keep teams happy. They are the ones who killed rivals for 11PM kickoffs between Rutgers and USC. or 9AM games for Washington in the east coast

NIL always existed. just now its legal and in the open and has some of the sketchy boosters schools kicked out are back in.

We want more parity and have a even spread. remove the old Power/Group tags and let smaller schools compete.
With how some schools are spending NIL its just hard for the small ones to compete, and you cant introduce a NIL cap because then it will go back to under the table deals rather then spread the players into more places.

NIL was rushed because some states starting with California introduced laws allowing players to be paid. and the biggest spenders are introducing a few new big name places, but mostly its still the same old stuff.

Where you’re going wrong is thinking Michigan and Eastern Michigan needs to be treated equally or are in the same stratosphere of sport. It’s warm and fuzzy in thought but in reality it’s completely bonkers.

Let’s use your Miami Ohio and OSU example, the bucks just landed a 5 star, even though they got a 2 5 stars last year. You think any kid wants to play in front of empty stands instead of 100k every week?

Now look at the flip side, say Miami Ohio has a superstar on their roster, you don’t think OSU are throwing serious $$$ to get him out after 1 year? The thought of staying 4 years is nice but it’s barely reality.

The expanded playoffs might let say more TCUs, Washington, etc in but they also let the OSUs, Bamas in… you know teams with serious talent who might have lost an extra game, so I don’t see how this is ‘evening the system’

Thinking that all conference champs including G5 champs should get an auto bid is completely and utterly idiotic. The auto bid system is a joke in the first place but include G5 schools and you are going to get 60 point blowouts with an occasional once in a decade upset. The playoffs should be the best 12 teams whether they are a conference champ or not.

Bill Belichick has interviewed for the North Carolina job.
Regardless of his record while at New England I can’t see him in his mid 70s relating to guys of that age, and the recruitment processes he’d have to engage in.
Surely he doesn’t go Collegiate ..

Why the hell would anyone of his age want to willingly put themselves into a HC position with all the shit that goes with it? He should just look for a consulting or GM position instead.

I want UNC to do it for shits and giggles because it will probably fail spectacularly. But, I would imagine they would be able to recruit more higher level players who would jump at the chance to play for him.

He's going back to college because they'll give him full control over recruitment.

More likely, he decided his current girlfriend is too old for him.

Ridiculous decision. Has no association with either school. If they wanted a celeb that should have got Elle and/or Dakota Fanning. From Georgia, Grandpa played at UGA, and her aunt is a former CBS sideline reporter for SEC games.
