Can anyone who watched the Brisbane vs Northen Knights game provide some intel on individuals.
Our bottom agers, and over ager KPP Richardson (mid december 2005 birth). I watched the first half. It was scrapy and rare to see some decent play.

We're still playing to many overagers.

I thought 2006 born Greenaway played well.

2007 born midfielders Annable and Lillico look to be our best. Annable inside, Lillico outside.

Based on stats (which isn't always everything) Bridge and Annable best?

Lillico 10 touches and 0 marks on wing didn't scream impressive. Heard he had 5 touches through 3qtrs. Then had a go on the ball and had 5 touches in the 4th. Not sure if the wing experiment will continue for much longer.

Also no gessu, dropped?

Annable and Bridge have long been touted as our best from this age group.

Lions rarely use our wings. Just try and shovel it forward through packs.

Lillico is a smaller mid, so they may be trying to protect him against the bigger bodies, but he goes hard when given the chance.

A reliable source has told me that Lions u18 have finalized their squad for 2024.
2025 (2007 born) draft crop has had some surprising omissions. J Slater, J Harrison, O Barry, S Macinnis, O Tanks, T Griggs.
Among some of the best in last year's u16 carnival won't get a look at this year's u18 team.

Haven't heard much regarding 2006 born 2024 draft class kids other than a source telling me that C Hewitt has been dropped, very interesting considering how highly he seemed to be rated.

The squad will play Mt Gravatt Seniors on Saturday 4:00pm.

C Hewitt is injured mate.

Brisbane Academy vs Eastern Rangers just finished up:

79-75 lions going down by 4 points in another agonizingly close game.

My thoughts on a every individual with rating:

# 2 Julian Cruice (Sherwood) 8/10
- Really liked his game today, playing mostly high half fwd showed his ability to impact up the ground. A few CBA's which was surprising, and a couple of key moments really solidified himself as an impact player during this game.

# 3 Raphael Gessu (Victoria Point) 7/10
- After missing out last week Gessu proved the importance of fwd half pressure. He showed his ability to impact physically as well as providing opportunities to hit the scoreboard.

#4 Jake Fazledeen (Wilston Grange) 7/10
- Fazledeen would be happier this week than last. Impacted more up the ground this week amassing more than his 4 disposals last week. Also hitting the scoreboard for multiple goals. For me he is an Allies lock this year on the back of some really nice form in the northern academy series.

# 6 Harrison Ronchi (Maroochydore) 8/10
-A key cog in the Lions back half today, providing run and carry and the ability to be extremely offensive but also that transition to play man to man and win 1v1's. Apart from missing the game winning goal with 20seconds left he should be really pleased with his game.

# 7 Ned Rosenbrock (Wilston Grange) 7/10
-Rosenbrock has some really positive moments. A new addition to this years academy his big frame would make you think he couldn't run out a game, an elite runner who proved needed bursts of speed out of stoppages.

# 8 Benjamin Lillico (Morningside) 7/10
-On the back of his no impact game last week. Lillico injected into the guts for a much needed use of composure. Collecting 20ish disposals. Concers for his ability vs bigger bodies at stoppage. But positive for him today.

# 12 Tom Fry (Wilston Grange) 6/10
- Not a whole lot to note on Fry. Got a bit of it. A bull at stoppage. Someone who will be fringe Allies.

# 13 Alex Pope (Victoria Point) 5/10
- Quite dissapoiting. Someone who was touted as one of the best 06kids in the state so far has lacked impact in the Coates Games this year. Wouldnt of had more than 10 touches on a wing. Another guy who is probably better off at the coalface instead of the outside nature of a wing.

# 14 Harrison Bridge (Sherwood) 6/10
-An interesting player who is hard to grade. He relied a lot on his dump kicks down the line today which were often chopped off by the alert Eastern half backs. Would of had 20odd touches but didn't have much impact per disposal.

# 16 Tristen Meekin (Sherwood) 4/10
-An overage who had little impact on the game 7-10 touches on a wing. Doubt he keeps his spot next week. BRING IN THE KIDS.

# 20 Daniel Annable (Victoria Point) 7/10
- Not as prolific as last week, still showed impact at stoppages and around the ground. Still would have 25ish just chugging along as he does normally. Ultra consistent.

# 21 Michael Romelo (Sherwood) 5/10
- A really solid half back, unfortunately couldn't show that today. Just looks like the pace of the game gets to him. Another first-year academy player. Didn't get enough to impact. Thought the whole backline group was quite disappointing.

# 22 Wyatt Greenaway (Morningside) 8/10
- The only positive winger, you just know what your gonna get from him. Probably the only geniune winger read the play better than anyone.

# 23 William Munro (Sherwood) 4/10
- Munro looked like he didnt want to be there. Doesnt car enough. Along with that had no impact. On the back of his 5 touches last week and a similar amount this week i cant see him staying in the team. In saying that he doesnt do anything wrong, so that could help him retain his spot.

# 28 Fergus McFadyen (Wilston Grange) 6/10
-A draftable prospect. A key fwd who also rolls into the guts. He wasnt the presence he normally is up foward but still had some impact.

# 29 Fletcher Callaway (Wilston Grange) 4/10
-This will sound harsh, Callaway had 0 impact, and possibly 0 touches. Only seeing him a couple times, the normal key defender tried his luck up forward to no prevail. Would likely see him get dropped this week.

# 30 Ryan Gilder (Sherwood) 5/10
-The normally perfect Gilder wasnt so today. Had a couple of moments he would want back. Again the back half didnt stand out to be today hence why there isnt much to note on Gilder.

# 36 Hunter Moore (Marochydoore) 7/10
- A general today, does no wrong.

# 37 Ty Gallop (Marochydoore) 6/10
-His game today highlighted by a 55m bomb that resulted in a major, Gallop just could not get his contested game going today. No where near as many marks i50 as he would have hoped. Would also want a couple of efforts back in the dire minutes to win the game

# 39 Billy Richardson (Wilston Grange) 7/10
- Really solid in the ruck and provided a good option forward of 50. The overager is a great leader for the group.

# 40 Bradley Mcdonald (Marochydoore) 4/10
- The 2023 Allies represenative was really poor today. Only remember seeing him take one mark at his 195cm+ frame during a game that had an abundance of inside 50s, dont know why we are playing him to be honest.

# 41 Tom Gillet (Sherwood) 8/10
- Really nice from Gillet today. Got involved in general play more than i have ever seen him. One of the bests today for him. The front runner for draftable prospects this year coming out of Brisbane.

# 42 Issac Waller (Marochydoore) 5/10
- Gillet is great mentor for Waller. Unfortunately he was a bit off today a nice contested mark and goal started his campaign. A bit soft over the ball a definant place of improvement from him. But has some very good guys to build off in Richardson and Gillet.

Looking at the app, Ned Rosenbrock is an overager. Turns 19 in July.

Appreciate your review on each player.

Upon reflection i made a mistake on #40 Brad Mcdonald who was one of our better players today. Poor from me dont know what i was thinking. The key defender finished with 15 disposals 5 marks and 6 rebound 50's, in what ended up being a dominate display.

There are 7 from Sherwood 😉

Gilder, Gillet, Cruice, Munro, Bridge, Romelo & Meekin.

Also, Romelo is a half back, but has been playing forward for academy in a position he's never ever played before.

Meekin is an over ager, but is there for legit reasons having missed his entire 18th year with a knee reconstruction.

I don't understand why the order over agers play though.

Haven't watched the game yet, but some pretty 'direct' feed back here, hope the kids don't read it...as they are still just kids and balancing school and many other things.

Hey Thommo.

On my individual reviews i had 7 Sherwood players must of missed one when making the QAFL club list. I am new here but my understanding is you are pretty heavily involved in Sherwood. So congrats to you and your club for your heavy representation in all Brisbane Academy Programs. Not to mention being the club to both Gillet and Gilder who for me are the 1 and 2 leading draftable talents for this year.

From my recollection i remember seeing Romelo in the half back on the weekend. Although not having much impact with 2 disposals. I am happy to be corrected if he was half forward, but my understanding is he was not. Due to him also having 2 rebound 50s doubt he was half fwd.

I am very aware of the Meekin situation and agree with you that there are too many over agers being played. Meekin being an exception.

Just on your 'direct feedback' comment. I completely understand they these guys are just kids. But also understand that they are apart of an elite program where they all want to play AFL. Trust me they would be getting much more 'direct' feedback internally.

briztoon did you manage to catch the game any thoughts?
No, sorry.

And I really hate the Talent League app, having to watch on an I-pad.

Saw the first half of last weeks game, and that's it.

From what I have watched of the academy series, and one half of talent league, I haven't been that impressed. That said, you couldn't take anything out of the Gold Coast game. Really waiting for the U18 Championships, and very curious to see how many bottom agers get selected in the team.

Annable can win the ball, but I haven't seen any of his disposals that impress me.

Haven't seen anything from Gillet or Gilder that stands out as a legitimate prospect.

I'd really like to see Richardson played as a KPD as I believe that's his best chance to make it in the AFL.

I have liked a bit of what I've seen of Greenaway, but haven't seen the speed he would need to play AFL.

Cheers mate.

From what i have heard about allies selection in regards to bottom: Annable and bridge are in, with Lillico being fringe.

For me Gilder will have to step up significantly he has been quite poor.

Richardson is such a utility that i think it gets abused. I agree a KPD would see him play his best football.

I'm a pretty harsh observer, even of my own team, so no one should be taking any notice of my observations, especially when I'm just watching on a computer screen or tablet, and not getting out to games.

Any word on any other bottom agers from other academies getting in? Keen to hear if any of the GC boys are in.
