Makes some sense.
I don't mean to be rude, but it can't be hard to update the draft order?
It's not my draft (not quite sure how I ended up with the stickied order, other than trying to be tidy within the thread), but once the first bid is placed, and picks start sliding forwards and backwards, it does become complex. You literally have to restart the draft with a fresh order, and re-do every step. Which most posters who run these won't have the time or patience to do so.

with what picks Saints only have 7 8 32 and 47 of currency at the moment I'm not sure where these picks are coming from when that's the picks they are taking into the 2024 AFL Draft
Those 4 picks on non NGA players, then Cole and Hoffman will be bid matched with future picks in deficit or saints 4th and 5th round picks.

Yep, but this draft order was set up prior to Saints (and other teams) making their final player cuts on 31st October. Had you started afterwards, later Saints' draft selections would have been activated.

In reality, once the pre-draft pick trading finishes a couple of days before the ND, AFL House will match each team's draft picks to available main list spots (based on 38 players). Picks that teams can't access will then be removed, and the draft picks collapsed. So, for example, a team could end up ,with picks 80, 98 & 116 based on the initial draft order ... but they could collapse into being picks 80, 81 & 82 if all other teams' picks in between don't actually exist.

Those 4 picks on non NGA players, then Cole and Hoffman will be bid matched with future picks in deficit or saints 4th and 5th round picks.
And yes, Saints could do more trading of F4 & F5 picks into this year ... which they'll do if they think they need to for matching bids, otherwise they'll just use later picks for guys they expect to be bid very late or not at all.

They can’t draft players with no live picks they currently only have 4 live picks in the draft and in this draft they got used

And that's fine for this draft since it started with an earlier list/draft order. You would have to start all bid matching calculations all over again. And then it could change again if there's a pick trade in the meantime.

If a team goes in to the draft with 4 picks, and uses all 4 picks matching bids on two players, this team still has 2 live picks after matching the bids.

It is just that those 2 picks have now moved to the end of the draft.

Example from the 2022 draft when the Lions matched father sons Ashcroft and Fletcher.

Pick 56 - Collingwood select High Boxshall

Hugh Boxshall - Claremont

188cm - Midfield
A clearance king, Boxshall standout in the state screening and as the best available athlete available here, hopefully his natural football ability will find him a role in the Midfield rotation, Half Forward or Half back in years to come.
