Would be odd if it is the latter given they apparently haven't even requested to interview him and they are already into 2nd interviews, but there has to be a reason this 'report' has been leaked (either by an agent or the Seahawks). That said, he would be possibly the best hire they could make

Maybe coz it's down to pretty much just them (Johnson being a lock with Washington) there is no rush now. They can take their sweet ass time?

He didn't exactly have many interviews did he? did he even get a second one with anyone?
He had virtual interviews with the Falcons, Panthers, Chargers, Washington and Titans. Anyone that is coaching a team that is still active in the playoffs isn't allowed in-person interviews. The Falcons at the very least wanted to do a second interview

The rules do give somewhat of a clue as to why he hasn't interviewed with Seattle now that I've bothered to look them up. Because of how long it took the Seahawks to start interviewing people, they can't interview him until the Ravens lose (or win the Superbowl)

Let’s hope the Seahawks decide to not wait for MacDonald.

Really hoping he succeeds Harbaugh.

When is Harbaugh going to retire? Wont be any time soon surely? Cant see McDonald hanging round waiting for it to happen.

I was thinking IF he wins his second SB that he would retire. I expected that to be this year, as the team built really well in the offseason and basically mortgaged next years cap for this year.

I would hope it would be a 2 year plan. MacDonald is an in-house promotion, who went to the college game to get his break and then returned for the senior DC job. He has been groomed for a HC job and should get one very soon.

IMO Monken is more important to Ravens success this year but MacDonald is an elite DC.

If there's a succession plan, it would've leaked already, surely?

Instead of all these questions arising now, it would've been quashed last week. Don't need all this rumour and innuendo before a CCG, but I'll grant that a succession could generate even more distraction.

Etiher way, methinks you'll be losing him sooner rather than later...

Lions desperately need another pass rusher and to improve the secondary. Can definitely see them slipping back to the pack with Johnson coaching the Commies. Pretty exciting times as a Commies fan. Can see McLaurin benefitting most from it, Johnson using him as much more than strictly a boundary WR, the St.Brown role.. Could there be a crazy outcome on the cards where Johnson goes to the Commies and Bieniemy ends up with the Lions?

A new Dorsey to fawn over in Cleveland AmericanCrow .....

Browns hired ex-Bills OC Ken Dorsey as offensive coordinator.
In some of the most bizarre timing in NFL history, the Browns leaked the news at the literal two-minute warning mark of the AFC Championship Game. That would seem to be a “news dump,” though the reality is these things just can’t be timed. Fired mid-season by the Bills, Dorsey watched his former unit become more stable but less explosive. There has been talk of coach Kevin Stefanski surrendering play-calling duties in Cleveland, but he is certifiably better than Dorsey. That being said, Dorsey was more scapegoat than actual problem in Buffalo this year. It’s a perfectly fine hire for the Browns.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that Ben Johnson landing the Commanders’ head coaching job is “not a slam dunk.”
As Schefter points out, Johnson could very well land the Commanders’ head coaching job, but the team is also “pretty impressed” with Mike Macdonald, Aaron Glenn, and Anthony Weaver, who are all scheduled to have second interviews with the Commanders this week. Schefter also noted that the Seahawks are still expected to meet with Seahawks, despite them being closely connected to Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. The Commanders will likely name a head coach in the coming days, but despite Johnson long being considered the odds-on favorite, it sounds like the public may be sleeping on other candidates.

I dont believe you Adam, short of walking in with a crack pipe in his mouth and telling Josh Harris hes a pedo Johnson will have this job. Only way it doesnt happen is if Detroit offer him some sort of unprecedented co-head coach role (stupid) and a shit tonne of money.

Steelers owner Art Rooney said the team hopes to re-sign QB Mason Rudolph.
Rudolph will enter this offseason as an unrestricted free agent. The veteran quarterback started three games for the Steelers to close out their season, plus made the start in their Wild Card matchup against the Bills. Rudolph and the Steelers went 3-0 to force their way into the playoffs, while he threw for 719-3-0, but lost 31-17 in their lone playoff game. Interestingly, Rooney also said he’s not sure we’ve seen Rudolph’s ceiling as a player, which is quite the take on a player with 13 career starts over four seasons. The Steelers hope to get better play out of the quarterback position, whether that be from Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, or somebody else entirely. Pittsburgh’s passing game ranked near the bottom of the league in yards, touchdowns, and net yards per attempt but will need to show more in a division that features MVP Lamar Jackson and former No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow.

Steelers owner Art Rooney said he expects the team to hire an offensive coordinator “sooner rather than later” and that the decision will be Mike Tomlin’s to make.
According to Rooney, who the team brings in as its next offensive coordinator is entirely up to Tomlin; Rooney added that he and GM Omar Khan share ideas regularly with Tomlin. The Steelers recently interviewed former Falcons head coach Arthur Smith, whose days as the Titans’ offensive coordinator (2019-2020) helped land him his first head coaching gig, but other candidates have also been vetted, including Texans QB coach Jerrod Johnson. Who the Steelers bring on as their next offensive coordinator could go a long way in determining Mike Tomlin’s fate with the team beyond 2024. Tomlin is in the final year of his contract and will be desperate to roll out an improved team after last year’s 28th-ranked offense did anything but carry them to their 10-7 record.
