Steelers Owner Art Rooney said he believes HC Mike Tomlin will sign an extension this summer.
Tomlin is in the final year of his contract but continues to be one of the top coaches in the game. While his offense needs a lot of work this offseason, Tomlin still managed to coach his team to a 10-7 record and a playoff berth this season and has famously never had a season where he finished below .500 in his 17 years at the helm. Tomlin has a regular season record of 173-100-2 and currently sits at 13th on the league’s all-time wins list. His last playoff win came in 2016, but the Steelers could be a quarterback away from looking like legitimate contenders in 2024.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports the Seahawks are scheduled to meet with Ravens DC Mike Macdonald on Tuesday regarding their head coaching vacancy.
A loss to the Chiefs in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game means Macdonald is now free to talk with any team interested in his services. The Seahawks had Macdonald on their radar last week, but they needed the Ravens to be eliminated before having a chance to speak with him. Seattle has appeared most interested in Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn throughout this coaching cycle but is now making pushes for the services of Macdonald and offensive wonder boy Ben Johnson.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Dolphins will interview former Bills DC Leslie Frazier for their defensive coordinator vacancy.
Frazier earned a head coaching interview from the Chargers earlier this month but was one of many candidates who were passed on in exchange for Jim Harbaugh. The former defensive coordinator and head coach (2011-2013) opted to walk away from the Bills last February after spending six seasons with the team. Set to turn 65 in April, Frazier first entered the NFL coaching ranks in 1999. During his time with the Bills, he helped lead three top-five defensive units and is among the most respected coaches in the league.

Whilst Quinn will be the favorable pick up for the rest of the NFC, MacDonald might be medicine they have to take....can't see it being a bad thing tuning your offense against a regular season opponent that plays comparable defenses to what you will see later in the season.

From an article Big Unit 30 posted in the Bears thread, this snippet makes sense, didnt think of this....

And if Luke Getsy was so incompetent as the Bears offensive coordinator why did New England and Las Vegas rush to interview him? Perhaps it was because they're considering trading for Fields and need info, or perhaps it's because the think Fields was the problem and not his coaching.

MMQB’s Albert Breer reports Texans OC Bobby Slowik has agreed to a new deal with a “significant raise” to stay with the team.
While he was a hot name for head coaching positions, Slowik has decided to stay as the Texans’ offensive coordinator. The 36-year-old helped develop C.J. Stroud throughout his impressive rookie season, building a strong Texans offense that led to a playoff berth. Slowik is set to receive a raise with his new deal as he enters his second year with the Texans. Stroud, Nico Collins, and Tank Dell all stand to benefit from Slowik staying in Houston.

That's the Commanders top 2 candidates gone isn't it?

If they wanted offense yeah. They have really gone from a team I was convinced would rise fast to now im thinking it will be a while yet. They have a shit tonne of cap space, maybe they can still make something happen but I would have loved the pairing of Johnson or Slowik with a rookie QB.

Personally I like the fact that both Johnson and Slowik are staying put at Detroit and Houston respectively.

Firstly it shows some loyally and commitment to unfinished business.

Both are emerging teams and it’s not an unreasonable expectation that higher glory is not to far away for either team.

Secondly IMO.

Also the tide might be turning with the new wave of savvy young coaches having seen the ruthless manner in which several recent new HC’s have been chewed up and spat out by heck wit ownerships in recent times.

While I get that the head coaching jigs are akin to a lotto win, the OC/DC pay grade isn’t that bad.

You know the red flag 🚩 cautionary mind set applies, when meddling owners like Tepper have to pony up a six year guaranteed contract to entice prospective young HC’s.
Six year on league average a HC salary get you around the 40 million mark.
That enough to retire on.

Prospective Head Coaches getting more circumspect as to who they join in a HC capacity….. maybe 🤔.

The Boston Sports Journal’s Greg Bedard reports the Eagles have interest in former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
The team is willing to give head coach Nick Sirianni one more season to right the ship after he agreed to fire key members of his coaching staff to retain his job. Bedard said the Eagles “could be at the front of the line if things again go poorly” for Sirianni and the Eagles in 2024. With no team interested in Belichick this offseason — following a disastrous final two years in New England — he should be available if the Eagles are ready to fire Siranni next January. Belichick will be 72 by then.

An NFC executive told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that Russell Wilson could be traded to the Raiders this offseason.
There’s almost no chance Wilson returns to the Broncos for a third season under center after head coach Sean Payton benched the one-time superstar QB in Week 17. The NFC executive pointed out that the Raiders were among the team’s on Wilson’s 2021 wishlist when it was clear his time in Seattle was over. The Raiders, under new head coach Antonio Pierce, will need to upgrade at quarterback this offseason after Aidan O’Connell struggled mightily as the team’s starter in the season’s second half. Wilson, who had the league’s third best completion rate over expected in 2023, would certainly be an upgrade for Davante Adams.
