What test to be lied too. All steelers had to not promise anything to Pickett but if they did promise him chance they had to follow thru. A man's word is his bond.
The mans word is his bond failure was Pickett's as per Breer.

Nah, shows a lack of competitiveness, if you don't think you can sway them off a washed Russell Wilson before week 1 you don't have it in you.

Remember they signed Wilson for a 1 yr only contract, a clear bridge. So being fine with competing would be on the table there for him as he'd only have to sit and learn for a year. He already knew too he lost his job when Rudolph took over for him end of last season and out-performed him. So between then and Wilson signing he kept "chucking the sads"

No way Russ signs with Steelers unless his promised the starting gig in my eyes.
You dont get it, you just said they broke their promise to Pickett, what makes you think they wouldnt to Wilson too with him signing a 1 year vet minimum contract.

If Pickett was promised anything it would be a chance to compete (with Wilson)....right? He would've been told up front they were planning to trade for Wilson too. So his attitude to that would also be a litmus test.

So them signing the mediocre Wilson for vet minimum 1 yr SHOULD'VE been fine for Pickett and the promise of competing. Regardless that Wilson gets first chance at first team reps, it's obvious he was brought in to have the first crack. Obvious to Pickett too, having known he already lost his job to Rudolph end of last season....that they planned to bring in some vet in that would be ahead of him for Pickett to try to sit behind and learn and compete against (try to jump over that bar, re-prove himself a starter).

It was several days after the Wilson trade that Pickett was traded....not right away...so Pickett wasn't lied to. He is the one then chucking a sad and demanding a trade out.

It's funny too because he had a better chance reclaiming the starter job in Pittsburgh and next to zero chance in Philadelphia

Multiple reports indicate that Pickett preferred to move on with a fresh start once the Steelers signed quarterback Russell Wilson.

Now that Pickett is out of the building, Wilson is Pittsburgh’s clear starter entering the 2024 offseason program. Wilson signed his contract with the Steelers on Friday.

Pickett grew up in New Jersey as an Eagles fan. Now he’ll have the opportunity to be the team’s backup behind starter Jalen Hurts.
