Pat Surtain and the Broncos agreed Wednesday on a four-year, $96 million contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Surtain's deal includes $77.5 million guaranteed, and his annual average salary of $24 million makes him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, surpassing the Packers' Jaire Alexander ($21 million). The 24-year-old received the lavish extension after turning in back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons, including a first-team All-Pro nod in 2022. He suited up for all 17 games for the Broncos in 2023, tallying a career-high 69 tackles with 12 passes defensed and one interception.

Have asked this before on twitter and got no replies...

If a team trades for a player and that player holds out from the get go, can the team not rescind the trade just like they can when a player fails his physical?
No, but if a player holds out the entire year that year doesnt count towards his contract. In other words Reddick wouldnt be a free agent next year despite this being the final year of his contact, he would still be on the Jets under the same pay as he currently is.

The Jets are laughable for trading for a guy who wanted a new contract if they hadn't discussed it with him first
