Gunston used to get sent down in defence for the odd 5 minutes as a loose / spare at the end of a quarter when we wanted to prevent the opposition from getting a late score.

He hasn’t played in defence for his entire career. That’s completely incorrect.

That’s not true. Clarko put him back there for big stretches occasionally whole games. I remember him clocking up about 30 touches once as a defender back around 2017 or 18.

Surely you don’t think the way the teams are named is how they will line up? Esp in a pres season game?

There's obviously a chance he is lining-up there on Saturday to start with, maybe to do a job on Dale.

If naming the side was so frivolous then why aren't we seeing Watson named full back, etc? Why are the players all named in positions they would typically play, bar Finn in this instance?

The Doggies might have serious firepower centre and forward but their backline reads horribly, at least on paper.

I'll be disappointed if we are not, at a minimum, very competitive given its in Tassie.

And yet last year despite what seemed like imbalanced investment in mids and forwards their no name backline held up really well I think they were 5th for scores against or something that was quite unexpected.

He also missed getting a fingernail on a dribble goal when he probably could have made it.

BUT, the fact he was in the opposition goal square putting on defensive efforts is the reason why he gets games.

On another day he wins those two contests and his game looks infinitely better.

Reckon we will run with essentially two full-time wingman in CJ and Morrison (if selected), and several other players that rotate through there, like Ward, Day, MacDonald, Mackenzie, Moore, etc.

You'd think CJ will be BHH bound until he can get through a few games and have trust in his lower body. There's a huge risk if he plays straight up.
