Galloping Gasometer is probaby the funniest nickname of them all.
Remember that next to North's Arden Street oval, there as a huge gasometer.
Could not have been a better moniker for the big lumbering man.

I've always been a big fan of the Macedonian Marvel.

“Lethal” was just the media nickname for him, from Lou Richards. From memory he was called Barney within the club.

Lou gave out some of the great nicknames to players including the flying doormat.

Come to think of it, we really have had some poor nicknames over the years.

"Pup," was boring.

"Poppy" was extremely lame, especially when "the poo" was there for the taking.

The playing group and we, the BigFooty posters, need to do better on and off the field.

More Wiz's, Noodle's, Duke Newcombe's, Connor Smash's, and less of the rest please.

Can't possibly agree that The Poo is better than Poppy, considering Poppy inspired so many Nash / tall Poppy jokes during his forward era. Poppy was also so much fun to say when he jumped on shoulders.

We had a couple of good ones, but I think we defaulted to simple ones like Roughy, Schoey, Poppy, Gunners as Clarko tried to force such strange ones. As far as I remember, he was responsible for Dimma (which stuck but shouldn't have) and Tommy for Will Day (which should have stuck but didn't). Shaggy, Tank and so on.
