Training notes
Ward didn't partake in running - decreased load and instead did work in the gym
Seamus Mitchell did running in the rehab group but didn’t partake in the match simulation
Chad Wingard was running and completing his own program
Will Day hobbled down the stairs and watched on from the sidelines
Player from Box Hill wearing number #55 took part in training - a defender

Match sim- First quarter
Probable forward line? - Chol, Breust, Dimma, Watson, Ginnivan, Moore
Probable backline? - Amon, Sicily, Blanck, Scrimma, Weddle, Amon
Mixed midfield
Chol had a great pick up and spin onto his left evading traffic
Massimo played on a wing and hit a beautiful kick onto the chest of Chol
Croc played in the midfield and high half forward as well
Sammy Butler had time up on a wing, as well as down in the forward line
Luke Breust, Sam Frost and CJ all did part of the match sim, before running along the boundary as part of load management
Noodle only completed half of the match simulation before watching on from the boundary
Dimma Hardwick played forward and then went back - very much showing the versatility that looks like will become part of his game
DGB played down back as a defender before moving forward in the last part of match simulation where he was lined up on Jai Serong
Jack Gunston took part in half of the match simulation and led well while also setting up some shots on goal in the forward line
James Blanck had some nice spoils and looked composed at the back
Husswaite and Frenchie are both incredibly classy and have so much time with the ball in hand - both should be pushing for more game time throughout the year.
Finn Maginness tagged Jai Newcombe during part of the match simulation which was a fascinating watch as both are incredibly diligent and hardworking in their approach.
Weddle has license to thrill - takes off from the backline which is great when it works - a few times was caught out
Finished off with a running session - Shuttle sprints in which the draftees didn’t complete before whole field runs - Will McCabe very quick in these

Ned Maginness, Christian Moraes and Ky Burgoyne at training but didn't partake in match simulation
Any issues with Ward?

Has the cloning machine only been used on Amon or are there others who have used it?

Amon in the probables twice? Outstanding workrate from the lad!

I must say, I'm super curious about Ward, Cmac, Cam and Butler the most this off-season at this point. Sounds like all are managing?

Ho'wd DGB go in match play?

Ward didn't participate in match simulation today but has looked good as an inside mid as well as on the wing.
Croc has looked fantastic all pre season - leadership has come on in leaps and bounds too
Frenchie is all class and has increased his fitness massively
Butsy is using his tank to good use

As a forward DGB had three marks on Serong - kicked 2 behinds and one that didn't make the distance. Led well onto the wing before kicking a short kick that dropped before Josh Bennett but JB made it look good

Love your willingness to answer questions here- very much appreciated.

I have hopes of at one point or another seeing a line up of

Hi all, it's my first time posting and was my first time going down to training, I was trying to work while I watched too, so probably missed a bit but the main things I noticed:
  • Josh Ward didn't train (already been mentioned I know)
  • Weddle looks like a stud, athletic beast
  • CJ lined up in the mid for half ground drills, albeit in a vest. Then on the wing for some match sim.
  • Worpel looks like he hasn't dropped off, still makes some questionable decisions though
  • Newcombe is a MAN
  • Morrison looked sharp at times, not sure where he fits in but definitely pushing at the moment
  • Hustwaite trained in the middle for some of match sim on the same side as Worp, Nash and Reaves
  • Watson a live-wire, looks ready to go at the next level, super smart
  • JB looked a fair bit off it, I think he'll take some development time

Ky and Ned in this morning's training.

I have asked Ky if in case both Port and the Hawks are interested in him (in taking him) as F/S in the next draft, which team will he chose. His response to me was, he is torned if it comes to that and still unsure what to do if that happens.

At the same moment, Ned told me that he might apply in the next MSD (which has surprised me personally) ..... anyway I will emphasise the word MIGHT. So just take what I said with a grain of salt.

Some of the boys going to the near side of the fence to change to a blue jersey. Jai is already ahead of his teammates in changing jerseys.

Ky Burgoyne #49, Ned Maginess #39, Christian Moraes #50 size comparison vs CJ
I think #37 is the #55 earlier when he's still wearing the gold shirt (I could be wrong).

And my customary thumbs up posts from Watto.

Outrageous hair from Watto

I actually don’t mind CJ onto a wing, as opposed to in defence, he has great pace but not an overly defensive mindset/discipline.
Careful…..you might get a few on here annoyed with the last bit. 😉

Smart lads. Ultimately the club will make an unemotional decision. If they're keen on futures in the AFL then best for them to keep their options open and explore every opportunity also.
