Anyone else feel a little weird about this game?
We won and controlled a lot of the match but also feel a little more polished from essendon could've made it a different result.
Still - up the baggers!!
Essendon are a good team they played well they got their game going in the third quarter.
But for the majority of the game we shut their game down.
But I get what your saying they kicked a lot of points from deep entry’s

Look at it this way:

Despite mostly keeping our superstar top-5 players quiet (which won't happen often) and us playing a fairly horrendous third quarter all-round, we still controlled large parts of the game and walked away with a 26 point win against the #2 ladder team.

A lot of their behinds were because we forced them wide and applied good pressure, so they had lots of rushed or low % shots. We kicked more accurately because our structure and ball-use gave us better looks. And better kicking for goal is just better football.

If we could fix the third quarter disaster (where we really lost composure and gave * the game on their terms) to make it look more like the other three quarters, we would win by 10 goals.

The Carlton votes thread is mostly comprised of lesser-lights (and TDK, who could well be our new superstar.)

"Shut down Cripps, Walsh and the 2 monster forwards and you beat Carlton" is no longer a thing.

Edit: Also, we were both younger and less experienced than our * opponents.

We need to figure out how to beat Sydney because they are easily the best team this year. At our best, the rest don't really bother me that much.

Kemp and Eli midfielders.

Kemp is too slow with ball in hand to be a mid. Not sure how good his tank is at the moment but it’s not something he’s known for.

Right now he is (slowly) developing his ability to lock down an opponent at FB. In a few years time he looks a natural McGovern replacement as a more attacking CHB and his role should be replaced by a stopper. His attack on the ball in the air will be a weapon in time he just needs to know when to go and when to play safe.

I expect Elijah to move into the mids as Cripps and George begin to slow down. Right now he looks a gun linking HFF and that is our weakest area atm but he is also taking some centre bounces so the club clearly rates him in there. He started in the middle at the beginning of the third and fourth which were some pretty important clearances to win.

Kemps only 20 games in doing an apprenticeship. I can see him forward : midfielder imo

Can't remember a game where everyone of our small fwd scored a goal even the sub ..last week I said Elijah fog and Williams would score multiple in a game one day only fog got me with that point ..

But he's never in anyone's AA conversations.
The only KPD in the top 50 for contested defensive one on ones with a loss rate under 10% (I think it was 7.1% before this game). They all seem to have Pearce in it, who is a great player, but he loses over 26% one on ones.
Even Taylor seems to have come off a fraction he really misses Buckley

This is an underrated win. Sure Essendon missed some early shots but we were 32 points up at half time. Ok they had a lot of play in the third quarter but a lot of their inside 50 entries were very average. We flicked the switch at the start of the last. Our structures were great all night. Our forward line was very open and the forwards worked together which contributed to our efficiency up forward. Our role players were again great. Cripps and Walsh didnt do much. We are building towards the second half of the season to have a real crack at this.

Thought we were lucky to get the 50m penalty for * player kicking it wide of Carlton recipient.

Particularly when * didn't get a 50 when we did the exact same thing later on in the game.
Unfortunately it went straight to his teammate who was standing the mark 50 metres every day

Compress the back half open the front half -- seems to be what we have been working on probably why our inside 50 numbers dropped off other than port but we rebound past half fwd we score heavy .. or we score from centre clearance. Be interesting against geelong as they are best at this if we half the inside 50s think we win .

Yeah bluebaggers nice arvo in Koh Samui
Enjoy Brilliant place 👍
Baan Haad Ngam Boutique Resort & Villas…. Koh Samui…
One of the greatest places we’ve been to, top of Chaweng Beach dinner on the beach at sunset as the tide comes in having a meal and drinks…
Early morning massage on the beach in the timber hut, sound of the ocean in the background 👍

Yeh fair

I think once we get cez Martin Motlop in we will rise to another level

I don’t think Geelong could win a game when their versions of Walsh and Cripps play as average as they did today

Happy to wait and see. One things for sure, we are top 4 quality
Definitely have top 4 capabilities written all over us 👍
Don’t forget about Cottrell also!
