There's being owned and then there is what Weiters did to Peter/Harry tonight:

But he's never in anyone's AA conversations.
The only KPD in the top 50 for contested defensive one on ones with a loss rate under 10% (I think it was 7.1% before this game). They all seem to have Pearce in it, who is a great player, but he loses over 26% one on ones.

It's bizarre how disrespected he is. 4 AA squads without making the team - I think a 5th would be a record

A bit harsh. Maybe not his best game but he's had a great year

I don't think so, he's easily still in our team but he's been close to our best and most consistent in 2022&23.

while still a good HB, has lost a bit. He used to show incredible kicking efficiency while rarely being beaten in a one-on-one. I don't think he's at that level over the season so far.

I hate bagging umpires…but geez it seemed the inconsistency and interpretation of HTB decisions hasn’t improved a great deal.
Our players need to adapt.
If you've had no prior, you have to just let go of the ball the second you feel contact.
Or bringing the player to ground and ending up on top of them.
The other thing that undoes us, is we tie up both players arms, or the second player comes in to wrap it up.
If you leave a player standing with an arm free and they can't get rid of it, you'll likely get the call. If you give them no chance of getting the ball out, it'll be a ball up.
I don't like it, but that's basically the current interpretation.
Our pressure and tackle game was destroying teams early on. Since the change, we're getting zero reward for effort.

Carroll had some important touches in the first half, couple of really important goal-chains. It feels like we've barely seen him recently, and those minutes will do him good, even though he was clearly the right player to sub. Good to see a couple of things go Durdin's way as well - I liked the tricky trap and handball probably even better than the mark and snap - both goals, very nice.

De Koning best on ground for the third consecutive week (in my votes), and I am starting wonder what we have here!! All of a sudden, his bullocking work at the stoppage is peak Kreuzer, but his ball-winning ability is superior. But then he distributes it to our advantage, every bit as well as Matthew Allan did in his prime in the back half of 1999 when we were flying, and he's a far more imposing physical specimen than Allan. Just how good is this guy?

Outside of him, it was good to see Hewett step up, in a midfield that might have been shaded on the night, but which was disciplined and accountable. I liked Walsh's game, actually. He is clearly making an enormous effort not to just run forward and blaze away... and it helped. Thought through it, found shorter options, often by hand, and in not entirely unrelated news, we kicked 15 goals from ~42 inside-50s.

Cowan, love this stretch he is getting, love the distance he gets on those dump-kicks! It's a skill! And Boyd, the smothers, and body-lining the ball. Kept it going our way, often in heavy traffic, kept the ball in front of him when it was critically important for him to do so. All the back six were good, under sustained pressure.

But possibly what I liked most of all was our cohesion, orchestrated by Elijah Hollands. There is a lovely passage of play in Q4 on the far wing, where Hollands, Kennedy, Williams and Fogarty just think their way through it beautifully, terrific sequence of 25m passes and uncontested marks, ends with Curnow getting a free kick and goal. No worrying about "powering down" or sacrificing momentum, just doing smart things, executing the skills, and clinically extending the lead.
