A lot positives from a mature and balanced team performance with some well thought out and executed plans from the coaches but for me the biggest highlight was….

…watching Adam Saad kick on his right foot!

(It’s a bit like the first time you notice Roger Federer’s gimpy left arm).

Of all the key defenders, Weitering has the best one v one record for defensive losses

29 contests, 2 losses, 6.9%

Better than Allir, Taylor, May, Andrews

Those latter three are all phenomenal players, don’t get me wrong, but Weitbot can’t seem to get MENTIONED in the same breath as them. He needs a publicist, because his effectiveness is A+ and every bit in the convo with those other guys as the best currently doing it.

Free kick Carlton. Gees we get an easy ride...

Thought we were lucky to get the 50m penalty for * player kicking it wide of Carlton recipient.

Particularly when * didn't get a 50 when we did the exact same thing later on in the game.

Whatever the vagaries of football, two weeks in a row we’ve just gone bang when the game was there to be won. That’s a pretty good sign, particularly against other top 8 sides.

In boxing parlance, we clearly have “knockout power”. We are a punchers chance against anyone, and can win matches where we are perhaps out-played or below our best by landing a flurry of big shots in a hurry. We are dangerous.

We are really struggling to put four quarters together, but getting better at hanging on and minimising the damage when it’s not going our way. I think every team knows and respects that we can go “bang” and either come screaming back from 5 goals down or turn an arm wrestle into a laugher in 20 minutes.

I remember when we were shit and we would come up against good sides who could just turn their good footy on create distance on the scoreboard as the game required

It feels like that might be us now given what I’ve witnessed this last two weeks

It’s a great way to conserve energy and minimise wear and tear over a very long season

I was at the game, Durham took 5 or so steps back as the ball was kicked on purpose to milk it

Really nice and easy win today, even contributions across the board. Charlie was really good with his contests, he really directs the ball to our crumbers superbly. That kick to Owies was unbelievable. Saw his parents and brother (not Ed) as they were seated near me and wanted to congratulate them on the son they produced 🤣

2nd on the ladder going into the bye, could exit the bye 2nd too if results fall our way. Very good result tonight!

I know it often gets groans from the crowd, but i really like it when we chip it around the back. Our half backs (Boyd, McGovern, Saad and Newman) are our best ball users and need the ball in their hands as much as possible

Cerra-Carroll (easy)

Durdin-Motlop (easy)

Martin-Owies (harsh)

Cottrell-Ollie (harsh)

Yes, that is how I see it too, although I would be looking at Kennedy as well as Ollie Hollands if it comes to that fourth swap. Fortunately or unfortunately, we are unlikely to have no new injuries over the journey, so possibly those last couple are moot anyway. Owies is probably not strictly best 23 with players coming back, but he has been selected every time he has been fit, for time out of mind. And competing with Martin and Silvagni for a spot, that's likely to continue.
