Even if we somehow scrape into the 8, what do you think will happen?
There's no way that Hawthorn won't beat Richmond and North.
Even if North upset the Hawks we'd still need to win both games.
For what? An interstate trip? A game at the Gabba? Maybe GWS?
The season is gone, regardless of whatever happens in the last 2 games.
Anything can happen in football. Did you think we’d make a prelim last year after our start to the year. Maybe wait until this one is actually over before making comments like this.

Players lack hand and foot skills, marking skills, decision making skills, fast reaction skills, under pressure skills, awareness skills, tackling skills, Goal kicking skills ..... yeah we lack a lot of skills.

I blame the Coach for poor skills compared to other teams ... who else can you blame for that other than the players being too lazy to sharpen them up after training times. It is a lack of desire to self improve and be the best footballer you can be.

Carlton are a terrible marking team. Look at Brisbane or Geelong

Came here to say almost exactly this, saved me the trouble.

It's become obvious that without a lot of luck, our current gameplan is unsustainable over a full season. At the same time, we've built a list that's only suited to this style of footy.

We're never going to be the Hawks, but we do need some speed and class to complement the list and give us a fighting chance when the team isn't at its brutal best.

A pivot is not gonna happen, but we can supplement with clever drafting and trading, plus a bit of luck to key players.
We have a list built on a house of cards. 5-6 elite players, and a lot of injury prone and/or role players outside of that. We will revamp strength and conditioning in the off season, and clear out a bunch of guys always injured, and recruit for pace, pace and more pace.

We will then see what we can do in 2025, gut feel is last year is as good as we will get with this group. Also, Kingsley should of been the guy and not Vossy.

Its not over till its over, but, its over.

We will have the following unavailable:

TDK
Curnow
Fog
Saad
Martin
Boyd
Cerra
Cottrell
Marchy
Cuningham
Doch
JSOS
Fantasia
Corey Durdin
Carroll
O'Keefe

Out of those 16, at least 11 of those are best 22. So we are playing terribly, at a low ebb, AND have half a side out.

Plus I am 99.9999% certain Walsh's back is playing up.

Sides who turn bad runs of form around have the majority of their best side available.

Its pretty similar to how drugged up Essendon fell of a cliff in 2012, though I doubt we tried anything as "creative" as they did.

None of our coaches (Voss and line) are tactically astute, so we’ve provided them with the support they need. Each line has a left, midfield, and right side of the field specialist in assistance.
And aren’t they all doing wonderfully !!!

Can they explain the tactic where you loose the first centre clearance of the game and they allow three Hawthorn players to be free of an opponent forward of centre for an uncontested goal in the first minute?

How come Vosssssssss hasn't tried kids and to give players a break? Is is because we have no depth? Is it because our reserves are full of skinny kids like O Hollands who seems to be scared of his own shadow? Is it the MC? What is happening at this rotten football club?

This is the same thing that happened at Brisbane when he was coach as far as I can remember, he ran players into the ground in his first year and then they fell of a cliff. Seems to pick his favorite's every week injured or not, match fit or not, example Curnow all of us knew he was carrying an ankle for weeks now yet he plays him. Was at the game where Walsh seemed to injure his back, everyone saw when a pack fell on his back, could hardly move after that, but yet he has played Walsh every game.

What a joke Voss is, we have made another big mistake with Voss, rotten club, they just take our money, and a lot of people can't afford it but yet we keep going to games buying membership, buying merchandise, no more for me.

Forgive me for posting on your board but just wanted to offer my condolences on your injuries you suffered during the game, chin up I think you'll still make the finals and a possible rematch. I wish you guys all the best 👍

Thanks.

You guys are flying. If it's not us who wins the premiership, I hope it's the Hawks. I have a soft spot for you because of the Carlton connection with your coaching staff.

It’s called intelligence gathering. Understand what our opposition will do in various scenarios so we can figure out an appropriate game plan. Financing does not permit them to do it in the weeks leading up so in game analysis is best. But we only do it for 3 quarters of the game.

Correct.

Committed to campo boys and neither fill an immediate need.

Good for sentiment and we take them, but he needs to get clever to fill needs.

Was thinking about this the other day. We've made a lot of noise about the changes to the father-son system and how it might affect our ability to take both Campo boys, but do we even need 1 let alone both? Neither seem to fill a need as you've said and neither have particularly huge wraps on them from what I've heard? Someone more across the u18s comp feel free to correct though if I'm wrong.

Okay. Not the result we were looking for nor the manner in which we lost. Many passengers. The injuries excuse our inability to run the game out but not the insipid surrender in the second quarter. For whatever reason we don't believe any more.

Passmarks for Chugga, Cow, Crippa, Newy and Saady. Thought Kempy tried hard but was probably beaten again by a stripling. Time to repurpose him and might as well start from next week in a forward role. It will do him good.

We need to change our game style. Most other teams are playing in a different fashion and as others have pointed out our game style is too taxing. Three seasons worth of form lapses is a fair sample size.

We also need to change our personnel. I don't know how we're going to achieve it but we need a reliable agile second KPD, some spark at ground level in our forward line and some pace and verve in the middle. Wouldn't change our rucks. Only hoping to see HOK pair up with TDK to form a solid ruck duo. I'm not particularly sold on the Campo twins based on what I've seen. Someone on here might be able to provide a considered opinion of their abilities. They might turn out alright but do we have to be wedded to them? I guess if we rate them at the picks that we use to acquire them then so be it.

I believe our aim should always be to win but I think that with our lack of personnel and belief having disappeared we will probably lose our last two and in the long run that may be of benefit to us. As long as we are having a crack and are genuine in our attempts to win I can accept defeat.

Hopefully the next two games are a chance to see some of our youth (Binns, Carroll, Lord, Moir). It would be great for these guys to play out the season. If we managed to jag two wins with these guys on board it would be awesome for their development and mindset.

Anyways, chin up people. The sun has risen again today.

Watched the first half this morning. All I could get through

TV doesn't show how bad it was live. Doesn't show lack of effort, players walking, not helping each other and Hawks players all over the ground running past Carlton players who didn't seem to care.

This has been building for a while. I can't remember being so disappointed in an effort

Something is not right. I don't know what it is but there is little effort and players don't seem to care. We seem reactive and lack confidence. And this is when finals and possible Top 4 are on the line

2022 we lose the last 6 to miss the finals after being in the 8 the entire season.

2023 we win 4 of the first 13 games

2024, we lose 5 out of the last 6 to sit out of the 8, after being a game and a half clear two thirds through the year.

This is a recurring trend, the coach has some explaining to do
Its mental. Can't handle pressure or expectation.

What are you hearing from the playing group? Surely they'd have some feel as to what's going on?

Pittonet ossified at some point and is now 71% stone

Decided to sleep on it.

Somehow feels worse today.

I can live with not being premiers, they're hard to win. Everyone knows this.

Not playing finals with this list though? Diabolical. Unbelievably disappointing.

Couldn't help but let out a defeated laugh when Jack Martin went down in the first quarter. I'm sure he's a very nice human but any club (ours very much included) that offers him another contract, belongs in the asylum.

I think we've just absolutely hit the wall, including our A graders who we rely on for the heavy lifting.

Pittonet terribly out of form in the middle means we have zero potency from stoppage (did we have a single clearance out the front of stoppage?).

Our defence a disorganised mess. Weitering and Gov frustrated with Kemp all game, berating him on multiple occasions. At one point, Cripps went down to the defensive group huddle after yet another Hawthorn goal, imploring them to do better.

Felt like a group mentally and physically exhausted, and the early injuries were the straw that broke our back.

A dreadful performance all round. Maybe some youth will reinvigorate us around the edges.
