I love how this thread is currently the epitome of calm, reasoned, nuanced discussion.

4 hours from now, however, and it'll be:

There was a GWS game probably 8 years ago where we kicked the first 3 or 4 goals, before they'd had a clean possession. Imagine that was the best and most joyous gameday thread portion imaginable.

And then the rest of the game played out...

Also, I heard the Pies are into Sheldrick to replace Mitchell.

See you guys in a few hours to continue the calm, reasonable discussion!

They tried everything to get us beat and then there is Stevic
2012 GF umpires - Stevic. Meredith & Rosebury
2016 GF umpires - Srevic, Meredith & Jeffrey
See the similarities.
2012 they did everything they could to make sure we lost. 21 to 10. 2016 they succeeded in their plan 20 to 8.
I mean, it's almost impossible to go through an entire game and only receive 8 free kicks but it happened.
At least tonight, we only have one confirmed Swans hater - Rosebury. Let's hope the other 3 can make up for him.

Gianfagna probably the worst for us in recent years

And if Sydney wins, all the talk will still be about Collingwood and how they lost the game.
Without a doubt. I can just see Gerard now going on and on about what is going wrong with Collingwood on Crunchtime. He may mention us in passing before he starts talking about Richmond/Carlton.

I remember the one week where we received all the adulation from the media and that was after we smashed the Tigers at the MCG in early 2021. One of our most exciting in recent memory. Warner goal on the run from the centre bounce. Since then... not a lot from them.

Probably because we beat the reigning premiers (even though they turned out to be shite that year) and also started the season 3-0 when many tipped us to be bottom four again. We haven't started a season 3-0 since and other than a 8-9 week run in 2022, we haven't really looked like contenders. We've not really given the media anything to hype us up about, so I'm personally not bothered by them not hyping us up. It's the pretending we don't exist that really bugs me.

I agree , i have SEN on all day and we get enough at times and of course in Melbourne the clubs like the Filth will get more attention , same as we would get more in NSW . I really don't care as long as we get something .
Too many worry about it .

Like Pies games in the finals at the MCG in the past year or so... has that same feeling. Pies lead early by quite a bit, settle down at quarter time... we eventually get back into it, then it will be a gripping contest, give or take 2 goals. Just believe the stakes would be so high... I wont be surprised if it is a win or loss by less than a goal.

Our hearts would be racin tho...

This is a big game for us, if we are a contender we need to win these type of games . They have the flag if they go 0-2 yeah will be the odd grumble, but they will be confident they bounce back, we know they are good.

This is a huge chance for Sydney to make a statement against the top side and at the MCG, which we haven't done in either case recently .

Losing here of course isn't the end of the world , but it just puts you in the pack a bit early . We have a chance to really jump up and get on a roll, that's what we did in 2012

yes, very much agree with this ... and feeling more on edge than usual because of it
real statement game for us
