Effectively dempsey takes rohan spot and mannagh takes smiths.
But miers prob needs to play higher up near the wing (unless bowes does).
You drop a couple of kolo and moc or tuohy to do it though.

Can you explain what you have seen to conclude that Bews and Parfitt are cooked, and why, albeit respectively very different reasons?

Updating round 1 team to reflect preseason games. Just flicked MOC to sub with Clark who now cannot be denied a starting 22 spot. I may regret the lack of flexibility with MOC on field though

Completely agree.

I think he can rotate through the middle in spurts and be instantly effective.

6 score involvements from 8 touches in 1.5 quarters is no fluke… the guy gets into good positions and just knows what to do with it.

8 score involvements was a game high to Close… a few more had 7 and 6 (like Mannagh).

Give him a full or near full game and he probably has 10+ score involvements and it’s hard to leave him out.

I think us not playing him for longer might cost him… and it won’t even be due to his form because he really couldn’t have done more in the limited minutes he was given in both games.

I am in agreement that he could add to our MF.

It is such a shame they didnt give him a full game. Now they have the excuse to say he looked better given he was fresh when came on etc. Which maybe true but could have tested that by starting him

What he has proven in those two goes at it is that he at least makes a perfect sub!

You'll get varying opinions on this. Some reckon he's ready to go now, others are a bit more patient. I'm in the latter camp and I think the club are too. I'd like him to get some extended game time, considering he's played very little footy over the past few years and slowly transition him into the role over the next 12 months.

Obviously an injury to Stanley could change things, but I'd rather Toby get game time, out of the spotlight in the VFL.

Hi, yes he is fit and has had a good preseason. Seems like Stanley is the preferred #1, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Conway overtake him this year.

He'll play between 5-12 games this year

Bews its pretty obvious he has lost a yard and his body seems to be slowing down. I expect he will be the dahlhaus 2022 of 2024. Hes gotten everything out of himself and been so underrated but physically i dont think he has much left.

Parfitt i dont think is cooked in the sense he probably goes elsewhere as a free agent and in a different side i think he could still play another 100 games. But it clearly wont be with us. The fact that they are picking guys like clark and dempsey ahead of him is telling as is the fact that guthrie wont play r1 and yet he is unlikely to be anywhere near being picked.

If this is a fantasy question, I wouldn't recommend him.

The club love him, but they're more worried about him being the best ruckman in the game in 4 years, rather than what he does right now.

He'll play some games for sure, probably early, but unless Stanley falls off a cliff they're going to be 50/50 splitting games at best (E.g they both play 10-15, but never in the same side) or Stanley will continue to play most weeks, with spurts from Conway every 3-4 weeks.

I’m no Kolo lover at all.

But we need him to play on a tall.

Imagine is SDK went down and we only had Henry as a tall back.

Zuthrie kind of plays tall but isn’t a true KPP.

Blitz could go back but it would really stuff up our ruck rotations.

Not really sure what the Saints forward structure is though to be honest.

King and Owens play for sure.. and I’ll guess SDK + Henry take those guys.

Then Sharman is 193cm (not sure if I’m best side… might be) and Membrey is only listed at 188cm but plays tall.

I’ll guess Kolo and Zuthrie take those guys.

If our MC thinks one of them doesn’t play then that’ll be the possible green light to leave Kolo out (if fit) and I’ll be wrong in assume he is just selected… and Zuthrie plays as an undersized back.

Scott seems to always go with Kolo though.

If those 4 guys play for the Saints he just can’t be left out no matter how much we don’t like him.

If Kolo not playing gets my man Mannagh in I’ll happily take an undersized backline

We were playing 4x talls at stages last year in SDK, Sav, Kolo and Henry… not sure how much though as we were crushed with injuries.

But going from being happy to play 4x tall backs to going with only 2x would be a shock to me.

Anyway hopefully Kolo gets the job done if he plays.

If he isn’t good enough anymore or if COS takes his spot after some good VFL games, I’ll be more than happy to see Kolo not play.

Man we just need R1 to hurry up.

I think O'Connor takes Bews spot as I think Match Committe love his versatility. Also think Clark plays in 22 which probably makes Bowes, Dempsey or Tuohy Sub. Which one may depend on where Meirs plays. If he plays on the wing then Dempsey stays in. If Meirs goes to HF then Dempsey is probably the sub. Duncan is too slow for the wing

How often did we play 4 last year. My memory of that was it wasn’t often.
